We all have great ideas. Ideas are easy, it’s the implementing those ideas that is hard. Take Sitizens for example.. Yes, it’s live, but it also isn’t finished. We’ve got so many ideas for it still to come.
But the thought for today is, what’s it worth? If I were to tell you we could have your idea implemented in one month, how much would you be willing to pay?
It’s an interesting thought to munch on in your mind. We all think we have this million dollar idea but then when it comes time to make it happen 99% of us aren’t willing to pay the money it costs to make that idea come to life. It’s a risk most of us aren’t willing to take.
There are some out there who do take big risks, and the funny thing is it’s usually people offline. I watch Shark Tank and will see people who spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a product they have to go through great lengths to make for slim margins.
But when it comes to online businesses you don’t have to pay for store fronts and most of it is electronic so once it’s built you can sell over and over again. Your entire business can be automatic leaving you only to develop it further and market it to new people.
So then why do we hesitate to risk it online? It’s almost like we have this perception that because there aren’t the normal physical expenses we shouldn’t spend much in any of the other categories.
So again I ask you, not what your idea is, but what’s it worth? Are you willing to shell out the cash today if it could be turned from idea to reality?
Yes.
Tim is right.
Tim’s best post of the year so far.
Great post Tim, you nailed it !!
Best. Post. Ever! I hope everyone reads this and gets a few ah ha moments! What are you willing to pay and willing to sacrifice to become an online success…..99% of the people aren’t willing to give up anything.
You hit the nail on the head Tim. I too watch Shark Tank and it is amazing how much people invest sometimes. But they have faith and passion so are willing to take the chance. I think a lot of people who start online are looking for the get rich quick niche which doesn’t exist. They don’t want to invest, so they fall by the way side as soon as it doesn’t happen. As the old adage goes, When the going gets tough, the tough get going!
I enjoyed your post! Thanks for sharing!

So true. That is also why branding is important. Get exposure, become recognized, then sort out the details. Technically, if it is a good site/project/business, you will never be ‘finished’ fine-tuning it. The only way to fail is to give up.
Excellent point, Tim, thank you for sharing!
