Trying Mosso Hosting 4

I decided to give Mosso a try. Mosso is an enterprise level cluster host. You get unlimited this and that. Your only limit is disk space and bandwidth.

It’s the latest fad in shared hosts. Instead of having one shared server, and packing a bunch of sites onto it, they have a bunch of servers all clustered together. Each service has it’s own cluster. So there is a cluster of http servers, a cluster of ftp servers, a cluster of MySQL servers, etc.

The cool thing is I can use PHP4, PHP5, ASP, ASP.NET, MySQL 4, MySQL 5 all with the same account. This will allow me to play around with more options like testing out my scripts with PHP5 or learning the newer MySQL 5 commands without having to worry about messing up my current sites.

I’ll be posting periodically about my experiences with them. So far it seems like it’s a great idea, and it’s fast. All over the internet people are raving about them.

I do know they had some downtime recently but that can only be expected. While some may think of this as the “100% uptime” host, realistically we are talking about computers here, and things can go wrong. But the question is do you want their team fixing the problem, or you playing with your own server?

Well, this was months ago? What’s the deal? Is Mosso any good?

Yes Mosso has severely improved. Over the past 9 months the uptime is somewhere around 99.98 and the email probloems are non existant. Fantastic company. Plus they have Ruby on Rails support now as well as many many other new features.
Now is the time to jump on board.

Mosso too expensive? If anyone is interested in sharing the cost of Mosso with me, I’d be willing to set you up with one (or a few if needed) of the client accounts for a good price. Just need a few people to help offset my costs. I’m thinking $10 for me, plus the set fees at Mosso (for example, $5 for 100mb of MS SQL, etc). I can be flexible with price depending on what you’re looking for. I’m willing to set you up with unlimited email boxes and databases since they’re free anyway!

Please contact me at MossoReseller at gmail.com if you’re interested.
