How To Create A Video Splash Page

That’s how you get a video online through AudioAcrobat. It does cost money, but it’s the easiest way to get high quality video with a simple player. YouTube and other services will be pretty much the same kind of steps.

Once you have the video online, you’ll want to put it in a splash page. I made a very simple one and used it for my videos. Simply paste your video HTML where mine is, and your Aweber autoresponder form where mine is, and save it to your webspace.

A few things to remember for getting good quality videos:

  • Make sure there is proper lighting. In the example you’ll notice that the window is directly behind me, causing my face to look dark. When I do real videos I have that window on my left side of me, with my office lights on the right side. This way I get good lighting on my entire face.
  • Make sure to use a tripod, or at least put the camera on something steady. How distracting is that example because it’s shaking? You want it to be completely still so people don’t get dizzy or distracted.
  • Make sure to speak loudly! Notice how soft this one is? I try to talk in an above normal volume, but not yelling. Otherwise the people watching will feel like they are being yelled at (unless that’s your intention!)
  • Don’t make it too small. If your video editing software resizes the video too small, when you upload it the quality will go down. I like to have mine at or above the size I’ll be showing them on the site when uploading, that way there is enough video to resize down if necessary.
  • Use a good video host. This is why I recommend AudioAcrobat! It makes it a snap, and if you are not technical like me then that’s what you need! Don’t waste your time figuring out how to host it yourself only to find it doesn’t play in all browsers (oh, wait I DID THAT! Wasted a bunch of traffic too..)

There you have it! Feel free to comment below, and offer up your own tips! If you have questions about video splash pages and the comments are closed, feel free to post it up as a question on the ASK section! That is also where you should request tutorials or videos too!

  2. Hey Tim,

    Seems pretty clear to me!

What video format do you upload online? I’ve been recording videos, but my camera takes video in .mov, which are huge files upwards of a gig.

The best file size I found was .wmv but then the video quality turns out horrible!

Main reason I want the small files is to reduce the upload time for each video.
