Something I added to the Traffic Exchange List Reports was a "Change" field. Basically you can see how big a change an exchange has made in rankings over the previous week. The top exchanges tend to not move around too much, but when you get into the smaller exchanges you can see some big changes:
Improving Exchanges
- TrafficSpeedway - Up 27 Ranks to #63
- ClickCrazey Up 14 Ranks to #56
- HummingBirdHits - Up 13 Ranks to #127
- SeaFastTraffic - Up 11 Ranks to #116
- HitWar - Up 11 Ranks to #117
Deteriating Exchanges
- LinkCrews - Down 30 Ranks to #78
- Astrology-Surf - Down 18 Ranks to #137
- FreeTrafficLotto - Down 14 Ranks to #99
- TrafficMeet - Down 11 Ranks to #132
- WatersEdgeHits - Down 11 Ranks to #141
So what's it mean if your exchange is one of the ones listed above? Well not too much to be honest. The data does reflect on the amount of traffic you are delivering and the amount of people using the exchange, but it doesn't mean people aren't getting results.
It should however get your attention if you are going down. I wouldn't worry too much if its 1 or 2 places, but the bigger it is the more you better step it up. Especially if you are moving down, and you are already in the bottom ranks.
There are 55 exchanges that are essentially dead. You don't want to be there. Don't get pissed at me for being the guy to tell you, use that frustration to motivate yourself to get things done and improve it.

Just shows no matter where you are on the internet you got to stay up to day by the minute
This was great stuff Tim. I do check on the results of the movers and shakers so to speak in the TEs. I try to see where the exchange ranks as to if I want to choose to use it or not, and if I need to move from one exchange to another one that is more productive for me.
Thanks alot. I love your posts. Keep em coming.
More great info from Tim! If you own a TE, this kind of information is literally life and death! Thanks Tim!
Thanks for all information and help that you give us.
I am in the middle of changing my surfing tech. I have been surfing and surfing and not paying much attention to the ranking and activity I am getting. I know pretty BAD for me. But I have been meaning to get them weeded out and was at AF on Sat and one of the main things I took away was “If it don’t work don’t do it.” I know that is pretty basic but I just get stuck in what I am doing and forget to move on… So this year I am really working on moving on.

Tim,
One other noticable change on Traffic Exchange List is that the unique ratio has taken a real dive. Exchanges that used to have a 60% unique ratio have gone to below 1%.
Is there an explanation for this? Is it caused by the growing popularity of TE Toolbox?
John
Good question John, I haven’t noticed so I’ll have to look into it.
It’s interesting tha you say that 55 TE’s are essentially dead.
I wonder if a new owner could revive them?
Probably not. Once they go down it’s pretty hard to re-brand them. Not impossible but you’re better off being something “NEW” not something “old and defunct”.
