Traffic Exchanges on Facebook

by Tim on January 21, 2009

Well this is exciting, I saw a post in NMF talking about Facebook. I was like yeah, I got an account, but it's for friends only. Then Jon posted he had two, and I thought, well, let's try that!

Next thing you know, I started the Traffic Exchanges group, and already there are 34 38 members of the group. 19 are traffic exchange owners. The feedback has been great, and it looks like it's taking off!

Even better, I realized how useful it is for business already. For instance, I was able to find, contact, and swap traffic with another owner in minutes. We also added in an event for SWAT Traffic seminar, which we realized Facebook would be a great way to remind people about special TE events.

So if you are using Facebook, add me to your friends list, and go join the traffic exchange group!

I have 2 Facebook accounts myself. Didn’t want my IM stuff mixed with my Friends/Family stuff. I didn’t like that Facebook wouldn’t let me use “jjpmarketing” as the name on the account.

Hmmm,

I need an education about using social groups. I have been reluctant to join them because I already get far too many emails to ever read and don’t need to get involved in non-biz chatter. -Max-

I think social networks is a great resource for meeting new people, making friends and letting other know about you as a person – nice to see the personal side of an owner. Another good social site for networking is the NING.com sites and here is one for TE’s that Kenneth Kraakstad started – check it out at http://generalen.ning.com/

That is an excellent idea Tim. Especially being able to send messages to everyone in the group to remind us about stuff. I love this web 2.0 stuff – the possibilites are endless. I only wish I could make more time to use it all. I can’t wait until all of these sites are on an open interface. That will truly be amazing.
