The Best Traffic Exchange

by Tim on May 14, 2009

This question was too easy to answer, but I encourage you to put your opinion in the comments as well. Asking for "the best" anything will depend on many variables. Most will give you their opinion, some will tell you based on their tracking, but both are flawed. Chances are you aren't promoting the exact same ads as they are, so your results will vary.

What is the best traffic exchange on the web?

Without a doubt, the best traffic exchange on the web is StartXchange! Ok, so I own StartXchange and am a bit biased. But to me going in there and surfing and seeing the chat bar flying and the number of active surfers high, it's great. Other than that my results wouldn't help you any there. Since the members know who I am, they pay more attention to my ads. So I propose a new question:

What is the best traffic exchange on the web, besides StartXchange because you own it?

Not so easy this time right? Well my favorites are easily Traffic-Splash and ILoveHits. I talk with Paul, Tim, and Jon on Skype all the time and I know their passion. I can also say that DragonSurf has kicked butt with bringing in new members to StartXchange.

And recently talking with David Foley I'm impressed with the 3 Way Jackpot going on at Traffic Taxis, Volcano Hits, and Traffic Wonderland. But this is just talking about owners right, not "hard results".

OK so for hard results we've got Traffic-Splash, EasyHits4u, and HitsBoosterPro at the top of the list. But that's just this past week. You see, the results I get vary daily, weekly, monthly. So I guess we should re-try answering that question from the beginning:

What is the best traffic exchange on the web?

The one that is currently getting YOU the best results.

Its all relative, I think most people would agree that StartXchange is one of the best. But I always track what I do and mostly I have found that few TE’s provide one advantage over another… As it all depends on what you put into it. Persistence is the key.

Most people have a top five or ten exchanges and sometimes it’s nice to surf one that you don’t use very often. It’s hard to keep up with the newer ones but we should all give them a bit of support as they are trying to help us in the end…

Tim what is your view on Upgrading, how do you evaluate it?

JOHN BASSETT May 14, 2009 at 10:12 am

Surf exchanges offer different things to people. Some like to chat, some like to pile up the credits, others like to surf a lot of exchanges.
My question is … “How do you evaluate them when considering an upgrade?”

Bobby May 14, 2009 at 10:27 am

I am new to TEs and really haven,t figured the benefit. The benefit to me personally is the exposure of my message. Some TEs are difficult to manuever, but StartXchange is pretty straight forward. Now I just have to figure out Speed Surfing?

Since it is the first part of the month, my favorite traffic exchanges are the 19 who paid me commissions this month…love those commissions.

Results from traffic exchanges are always changing for me. Right NOW, my five best for results [tracked] are DragonSurf, Hits2Hits, HitsBoosterPro, StartXchange, and Traffic Splash.

If exchanges have good benefits, getting reasonable results, have active owners, I Upgrade! Been doing this for 10 years now :) Traffic exchanges will probably not last …:) Actually TEs worked 10 years ago, they work now and they will work in the future.

Cheers!

Well, you left me speechless!

Since sign-ups depend on so many factors – internet presence, ads promotion, product offers, etc., I have to ask:

“Best For What?”

Ratios? Click-thrus? Hypes? Prices? Support, Membership Size? Surfing Functionality, Surfing Activity? CPC?

You name it!

So, if you want to find the best TEs – TEST, TEST, TEST.

Your answer is just as good as mine

Yes exactly! LOL so many people ask that question, without asking for specifics..

The best traffic exchange is the one that gives you the best results and bang for the buck. It will almost always be different than the next person, as we promote different things at different times.

The best TE is of course the one that gets results, but there are other things to consider.

I belong to several exchanges that are painful to surf…downtime, frame-breakers, stopped timers, etc.

The smoothness of the surfing experience matters to me.

Plus bonuses! Lots and lots of yummy bonuses!

Keep up the great work, Tim! I always enjoy your blog.

Tim,

Obviously Hit Bandit is the best on the web!!!

But seriously, I have had great results in the past from StartXchange, Traffic Splash and EasyHits4U, but also from less-often mentioned exchanges like Dare2Click, Mystical Maze, and Traffic Crypt.

On the other hand, there are traffic exchanges that have given NO results even when advertising the same splash pages at the same time as on TE’s that gave good results.

So I keep a list of “useless” exchanges which I avoid, rather than a list of “best” exchanges.

On any good exchange, the results depend greatly on your advertising techniques.

Regards,
John

You leave me speechless.

Best depends on so many things.

I’d test, test, and be your own judge.

Hey Tim.

Without a doubt tracking one’s results and based on one’s criteria should determine what is best for the individual or group.

BUT

Personally, I also like to work on tweaking my splashes to ensure I get results form traffic exchanges I enjoy surfing for various reasons.

In the end if I’m getting positive results, massive exposure and tons of bonus credits and impressions then I’m hooked!

Tim, I have been keeping up with your blogs and last night decided to go on a joining spree with some TE’s and yours was one of them. I’m looking forward to seeing what great things it can do for me!

Is it wrong for me to think I will get a better range of traffic if I surf on many different sites instead of put all of my attention on 5-10 of them?

Have a good one! :)

Tim May 15, 2009 at 10:37 am

Yes and No.. Depends on how much you surf. If you only have time to surf 10 exchanges, it’s best to stick with a consistent 10. Or maybe stick with 5 and rotate another 5 each week.

The reason is your surfing for an hour on exchange A will only reach a portion of the members at that exchange. So surfing consistently at the same exchanges allows you to reach more of the members there.

Alessandro Zamboni May 14, 2009 at 3:18 pm

My favorite Traffic Exchange is Koala Traffic :P

Jokes apart, my six favorite used every day are the following :

Startxchange (obvious)
Traffic Era
Traffic Giantic
Traffic Muscles
Generalen Traffic
Traffic Witch

Generally I use other only when some of these six doesn’t work.

Thanks and goodbye !

Traffic Swarm has gotten me the most hits on my site with hits Booster a close second but none has gotten me any sales either for the TE’s I belong to or any of my sites.

Marja May 14, 2009 at 4:05 pm

Hello Tim,

The best Trafficexchange as of my opinion is Trafficera. I like this Traffic exchange so much because you can build up your credits in a short period of time. In an hour of surfing you could earn for about 500 credits, so this adds up very quickly.

Greetings,
Marja Opsteegh

Tim May 15, 2009 at 10:42 am

Just remember at Traffic Era it takes 10-15 credits per hit to your site. So that 500 credits is between 33-50 hits.

If you don’t remember that it can make it seem like you are getting a huge deal but in reality you aren’t.

Compared to an exchange with 3:1 ratio and 20 second timer, you could earn 60 credits per hour ;-)

Mark Hodgetts May 14, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Hi Tim.

The most enjoyable Traffic Exchanges I surf are StartXchange & Royal Surf.

Results vary greatly and as I uses some of my favorites like StartXchange to test various splash pages, tracking one against the other is complicated.

My Top 5 overall based upon my ranking system currently are Farm Traffic, Hits Booster Pro, Dragon Surf, Top Tier Traffic & Traffic Splash.

I’m a Pro member at all of these which creates another variable in as much as tracking delivery rates and hits delivered against time invested skews the bias in favor of these Pro Exchanges.

I think that if somebody enjoys using a Traffic Exchange, it is more likely to deliver results in the long term.

Patricia May 14, 2009 at 8:22 pm

My favoriate TE’s are HitBoosterPro,
StartXchange,HitSafari,Traffic Splash,
Jet Stream,Fast Easy Traffic,Top Tier, Web BizInsider, Advertising Know How

Let’s see you ask for the best. Not the most popular, not the most surfed, not the most popular owner, not the oldest, not anything but the best. But to be the best doesn’t mean it has to be the top exchange. Big difference between the Top exchange and the best exchange. The best exchange would have to be the traffic exchange that offers the most to it’s members. Tutorials, benefits, commissions, option of a game, tracking, it’s own forum, a number of surf bar options, etc. Since I am the authority on traffic Exchange history having been around as both a owner and a user for 15 years since the first Traffic exchange Hitsnapper launched I would say the best exchange is:

Hands down Web Biz Solutions

Thought I was going to say Traffic Heroes didn’t you. But it’s a long way off from being the best. WBS offers more to it’s members then any other Traffic Exchange by far. By all accounts it should be the Top Exchange but it’s not. It is a contender but it’s not the top exchange. It’ a custom made Traffic Exchange that’s been around since 2002. It has multiple surfbars to choose from, its own rotator, tool box, forum, affilite commissions, downline builder, blog, Marquee, lots of Tutorials and so much more.

Tim May 15, 2009 at 10:21 am

Sorry Rich but I wouldn’t consider you the authority. If you were the authority then your exchange would have been #1 because you know everything, etc. You’d also not call out reputable owners in an exchange newsletter..

Rich Morris May 17, 2009 at 4:45 am

Your opinion is your opinion but I am the authority weather you like it or not. I know more about the history of Traffic Exchanges then anyone and have to corect those that think they know the history all the time. Knowing has nothing to do with my former exchange being #1. My pockets are not lined with Gold or I would have been number 1. That’s why Traffic Swarm will always be the number 1 exchange. It takes money to be number one. Knowledge does not equal money. Knowledge does not pay a programmer. Knowledge does not buy advertising and knowledge doesn’t buy cash prizes. Traffic Swarm is the only traffic exchange that I have ever heard that advertises on the top internet sites and in the Wall Street Journal regularly. Your thinking in that area is very flawed.

I don’t call out anyone. I post whats needs to be posted. I treat people like they treat me. I receive dozens and dozens of emails and PM’s in favor of my newsletters and how I am not afraid to call a spade a spade. My newsletters get my members motivated, increase sales and getting nothing but positive comments from my members. I don’t call anyone names or say anything that is not true.

Jon Olson May 17, 2009 at 6:43 pm

Dang man, that’s creative…Traffic Exchanges, Past Present & Future…Kinda sounds like Hits, Clicks & Misses: The Traffic Exchange Experience? LOL You’re funny.

Stop writing about me in updates from programs YOU DONT OWN….How did Brett allow you access to his mailer?

Rich Morris May 20, 2009 at 4:28 am

Jon,

Well you have known about the book longer then anybody and the title if you were being honest and in fact you recommended that I use Lulu press to have it published which is exactly who I am using. Maybe you forgot but I can show you proof if you want.

I have access to mailer at Traffic Heroes and other funtion because I am the Administrator at Traffic Heroes and Brett asked me to take over the chore of writing the weekly newsletter. I have greatly improved the traffic flow and purchases at TH and more members are active once again since I left. The members love me and except for the one poster at NMF that posted select parts of the newsletter who hasn’t surfed at Traffic Heroes since Jan 2007 and who surfed a total of 18 sites all the PM’s, support tickets and emails have all been positive letting us know how much they enjoyed the newletter.

I will be happy to stop writting about you everywhere if you stop stiring the pot at NetworkMarketingForum and both allowing other users to make posts about me when I can’t defend myself and from you starting topics about me at NMF when you refuse to allow me access to the forum to reply and defend myself. It’s very unprofesional and very unfair.

Jerokiah Darr May 15, 2009 at 3:43 am

Hi Tim,

The best exchanges would have to be the ones that are the most active. My exchange, TunnelRatTraffic.com is new and growing pretty quickly, but I will have to let my members answer that question for you.

With all active exchanges, you are rewarded for activity usually in the form of credits or impressions but sometimes cash is another nice incentive. My results vary just like anyone else’s, so I like to surf randomly by following the link in an email from various exchanges.

Results will always follow consistency, keep surfing or purchasing credits at your favorite exchanges to keep your sites in rotation.

Thanks,

-Jerokiah

Tim May 15, 2009 at 10:43 am

Exactly – there are some smaller exchanges :cough: Taxis :cough: that are out performing larger exchanges with activity, so it’s not always about membership count.

Cecilia May 16, 2009 at 1:04 pm

To me best means ease in navigating the pages, submitting and deleting my sites, no pop-ups, fast loading pages, minimal server disruption, quick support from the owner/staff, therefore the best TE in my opinion has to be Startxchange.
Keep up the good work Tim.

I agree that the best exchange is based on your personal results.

To someone just starting out advertising in TEs the task can be somewhat daunting just figuring out where to begin.

I created a spreadsheet that takes the top ranking services such as yours, Tim, and lets one see what all the experts say on one page.

You can even customize the report and give certain raters more weight.

The best exchanges? The ones that have been around for a while. The ones with solid ownership. The ones with great results. The ones YOU like! What YOU like is what should be your top exchanges. Every other list, ranker, etc is just opinions…Nothing else!

Paul May 21, 2009 at 1:36 pm

My favorite TE used to be Savvyclicks.com because when I joined way back then, I only paid around 5 bucks per month and that includes the co-op. Before you get decent results, you can rack up tons of credit in short time with outstanding customer support.

But after a while there hasn’t been any cosmetic changes to the main sites and I’m losing confidence in the exchange.

Other big TE have either or of the benefits and features that I liked with Savvyclicks.com
