TE Alliance

There is a lot of buzz around the TE Alliance. There are posts about it in NMF, TMF, Jon’s Blog, Soren’s Blog, and now mine. The concept of people getting behind an organization to better the industry is not new. In fact, it comes up fairly often. I registered Manual Traffic Exchange and ran a contest.
So, what do I think? Well I think an association of some sort would be good. But our industry isn’t like the others where an association would be lobbying for our interests with the government. We’ve got people all around the world with different ideas of what a traffic exchange is!
What I’ve seen coming up is the thought that came up last time, owners buying advertising together at larger places like newspapers, or what have you. Well I like it, but then again we are a niche so the return might not be that much. But you don’t know unless you do it, now do you?

Hey Tim,
As you read at my blog, I would like an “alliance” of owners for advertising purposes to extend the reach and appeal of traffic exchanges. I think we have proven on numerous occasions that we can’t agree on a set of industry rules, but we should be able to put an effective coop together.
The return might well be lower than we expect, but I don’t think that should stop us from testing it.

Hi Tim,
Thank you for posting about the TEA and thank you for stopping by when we were first getting it off the ground.
We value your comments and suggestions and realize that we (TE Community) are not like other web based industries where we need lobbyists etc.
There is a question of legitimacy by larger business entities online about the TE Community that one can not deny is holding us back as a whole.
One of our goals is to advance the TE cause and business model for the good of the entire community.
Thanks again,
Mark Brown
