Survey Results
This survey was created to find the current trends of surfers. At one point it was popular to be a member of every exchange and surf every exchange, but as more were created this wasn’t possible. So the trends changed. I thought it was time to find what the current trends were!
Surfing Frequency
Here you can see that more members are surfing daily than there are not. In fact 59% said they surf every day. This is good because we know that consistent advertising produces the best results. It’s also good because if you have traffic assigned then your site is being seen by those people daily as well.
Surfing length
This is the number of hours members surf. 25% said they surfed 2 hours, and 21% say 3. I like this because it means people are putting good time into generating traffic to their sites. If you only surf 10 minutes a day you really aren’t earning enough traffic to keep your site in rotation all day through.
Exchanges Open
This shows that the majority, in fact 25%, say they surf with 5 exchanges open. Now this isn’t a surprise because there are 5 SuperSurf exchanges. So it would make sense that a good number of people would answer 5.
Exchange Loyalty
The majority of users responded that they are loyal to the exchanges they surf. This is both good and bad news. It’s good if you are the exchange being surfed, but it’s bad if you aren’t because that means it’s harder to get them to use your exchange. It’s good for the end user because the whole branding and keeping the ad in front of people thing, if they aren’t loyal then their ads will be sporadic on the exchange.
Recent Activity
Interestingly enough about 1/3 say they are surfing the same, 1/3 say they are surfing less, and 1/3 say they are surfing more than they have in the past.
It wasn’t that easy to answer the survey. Couldn’t match right number with answer all time :)
If I like the TE- I’m loyal, it I don’t I might keep it and surf occasionally or even opt out.
Regarding SX… I’m addicted..
chat does that to me and I found lots of friends in here.
AND most importantly.. I’ve recieved sign ups!
Another thing is that I really enjoy your newletters..wonder why other TE owners haven’t copied your nl’s?

Im very lucky in that my members are very loyal and I have developed good mateships with several of them :)
Like you said its not so good because I now realize that I will need to work even harder than I do to bring in new members that are loyal to other exchanges. That’s OK – Im up for the challenge – Im taking Paul Kinders lead and providing excellent customer service and having the site updated as I can. David Foley is an awesome colleague and very helpful with excellent idea’s and advice. Im offering unique bonuses and cash every day and also have taken some of Tim Rash’s lead with daily surf comps etc. I love coming in here and reading what you are up to as well. I believe in learning from the best and since Im in for the long haul – I should be just fine!

Great work Tim, seems that I am not that abnormal when it comes to surfing. YAY What might be interesting is to see how ppl surf the exchanges they are members of. Do they surf them all every day, or do they divide them up. I tend to surf the super 5 exchanges on the weekend when they have the bonuses on and do that for several hours and surf different exchanges during the week. Anyways all good stuff and more evidence that when used right TE’s work and work well :)

Thank you for running this survey. You keep coming up with information that helps us decide where and how to advertise. Not birds eye views but actual facts and figures. That is not very common anymore. Thank you for the effort.

I had no problem with the survey and I do surf other sites but yours is always open..Like others have said, I am loyal if I like the site if I don’t I surf occassionally just to keep it open or I do opt out.

Great post Tim. Thank you for the information. I’m one that surfs all day at different sites. I surf a certain amount and keep going. I always surf SX before anything else, and usually try to get a little more in before the rollover….again thanks for the information.
I don’t think it’s good to assume, the 5 exchanges are the super surf sites. I have personally been a member of all of them, and startxchange is the best. the others seem like your getting know where.
I personally think if startxchange went together with 4 other exchanges, there would be better results.

For some reason, I like bar graphs.
I surf everyday the exchanges that I
like but, I also, join new ones. If after joining the new ones I notice that people are not surfing a given exchange, then I do not spend as much time with that exchange and may just purchase credits for that
exchange. It does not take long for me to see which I like and if I do like one then I cancel that site.
I find the comments about surfing more,less or the same very interesting – this indicates to me that Traffic Exchange Industry is in pretty good shape – a further question could have been how many exchanges are you an active member of?
I myself are an “active” member of over 50 whilst being particularly loyal to a core group of 10
