Splash Pages Reviewed x2

“Bears At Joybunnys Art Designs” to me sounds more like a title of a page, rather than a headline to grab my attention. You might do better showcasing bears for upcoming seasons or holidays. For instance “Father’s Day” in the US is next Sunday. I’d also just keep one photo centered, rather than two spaced like that. My eye is drawn to hte left one as it’s brighter and colorful, but then I look at the right one and skip right over the text. YIKES! Both links on the page goto 404 errors!
I really liked the look of this one and the formatting. I would make the headline bigger, and the link aka “call to action” bigger. I would also suggest you try using Google’s Website Optimizer. You can do a multi-variate test so you could try changing up the headline, list points, and signup link and it’ll figure out which combinations work best. I thought I did a tutorial on this, but searching my blog I realize I didn’t. So look for that in the future =P
YIKES! This isn’t a splash page. If you look at the above two you’ll see they are both very simple. The entire goal of a splash page is either A) Brand your name B) Get a click (full site in new window) C) Get a subscription (email form). You’ve got a bunch of graphics that are all text, and they are in fonts and sizes that are hard to read. My suggestion to you is to create a newsletter, and get a professional design. The newsletter should be free and talk about gardening. It can then talk about your products and how it would make it all easier or faster or what not. I doubt people will shell out $599 for something after seeing a 10 second splash page, but I know lots of people like to garden and will subscribe to a newsletter for free that helps them. Then they’ll be more willing to buy.
Clean and simple. If you are like me you probably won’t like this, but work on your copy! I’ll admit, I’m not an expert on copy, but there are two things I notice. 1) The headline doesn’t really look like a headline. I read it “Help you decide”. You could try phrases like “Learn How To Use Traffic Exchanges” or “I’m supposed to be charging for this!”. 2) The paragraph is kinda big. I’d change the color of the first two lines to differentiate them a bit.
YIKES! This is an affiliate link. I’ve seen it a bazillion times, and yet I have no idea what it’s really about! Few things: 1) Read my recent article on
The Dirty Truth About Affiliate Links 2) Create a unique splash page with a photo of you and why you think I should join. I understand that it’s a store of some sort that you can sell from, but what makes it stand out from the rest? Why should I even bother?

Well that was fun! 51 to go! Want me to review your splash page? Subscribe to my blog! In the welcome email is a link for you to submit ONE splash page to.
