Should I use Popups in Traffic Exchanges?

by Tim on June 18, 2008

This really depends on tracking your results. If you are getting great results, then no matter how annoying they are to others you should be using them! I know I know, as a surfer you hate being annoyed. But how annoying is it if people are taking you up on the offer on it?

That being said, a general rule of thumb I'd say is no. Two reasons: 1) Most people have popup blockers, so you'd probably do better spending the time developing more splash pages than popups. 2) It will increase load time. You want your pages to load really fast so there is more time for someone to view it. Popups are more likely to slow things down and/or get in the way of the ad you really want seen.

Totally agree Tim, and popup blockers must be the most used “add-on” all over. I haven’t seen a popup in a year, at least :-)
Of course there’s always one out of the majority that signs ups trough a popup…but..
Thanks Tim, your blog is GREAT.
