People like to give, so give for free!

One of the things I play on Facebook is Farmville. And one of the things everyone loves to do is give and receive gifts. Well, you can now give gifts on StartXchange!

The gifts are 5 credits, and they don't cost you anything. So you can skip the page and not give the credits out, or you can make friends and give them out! Just look for this page while surfing:

A few details about it - it will only pick members who are actively surfing. So if you want a gift, you gotta be surfing. It will also attempt to pick people on your team first, and then fill in with other active surfers if there aren't enough. And finally, if you don't have a photo good luck getting a gift =P

PS. It'll also send a PM to the person FROM you! So maybe they'll return the favor next time they see you up, or even brand you further ;-)

Very cool Tim! What about adding the person’s name and/or a link to a website of their choice so we know who they are?…plus added promotion for the member if you include a website link

Very nice. As a Facebook freak myself, I can attest to the power of gifting (which is actually free and doesn’t cost down the road) as some have forgotten. Good analysis of the upside.

Thanks Tim. That is another great idea for Startxchange. I received 5 credits today and it felt great. However, I am just finding out the reason of the gift. It would be nice if the PM said more about the program.

Brilliant! So how do I get in a team?
I have been wondering that from the start and can’t find anywhere.

Do we have to be invited?

If someone on a higher or lower level is who you want to send one can we just chose one and hope they are surfing.

I would like to give encouragement to a beginner.

Tim October 22, 2009 at 8:10 am: When logged into StartXchange click the Teams link in the left menu. You’ll see a list of teams, click a team name and it’ll tell you either you can join it or you have to be invited. Some teams are invite only.

You can gift to any of the 15 it shows. However it doesn’t tell you what level they are on so targetting beginners might be hard unless you know who’s beginning ;-)

Righto Back Again,
Having now had the privelege of giving away 5 credits 10 times now. I am compelled to comment further on this latest innovation. I have had a great response from the people whom I have chosen. Great way to meet people and say Hi to people you have seen around on SX.
From my personal point of view I would happily contribute my own credits or an extra amount to the amount. How long it is kept running will be the interesting part. So if there was a radio button on my account to say yes I agree to send 5 credits to a member every 100 to 150 pages surfed I would for sure click it on. Food for thought.
