Well with my new video splash pages targetting specific exchanges, I've been getting great results. Here are my current top 10 exchanges:
- EasyHits4u
- ListSurfing
- StartXchange
- Traffic-Splash
- FastEasyTraffic
- Blue-Surf
- TrafficBunnies
- Hit2Hit
- FarmTraffic
- ILoveHits
Note the two new exchanges in there.. FarmTraffic and ListSurfing.. Pretty cool seeing them in the top 10. Of course this my top 10 for advertising my blog, and it's only for this past week or so. It changes all the time, so I'm essentially trying to keep my sites in rotation at every exchange all the time. But if you aren't able to do that, and you aren't sure where to start, checking out other's top 10s can help point you in the right direction.
Check out Hit Exchange News's top 10 in each update, Traffic Exchange List's most recent report, and Affiliate Funnel's Top 10. Each has a different method of coming up with the top 10, but in the end your results are what matter.
Oh yeah, and this post was entirely because I wanted to check out how the new plugin works with a list and if it get's it right. Only problem is I have another plugin that is linking some exchange names to my reviews (like Traffic-Splash) and it gets run before mine does.

I get the experimental side of the post Tim…LOL…I used to do a top 10 myself…some time ago….It is fun! Unfortunately, I am about to go taz like on a few programs (one or two owners) that decided to be unscrupulous and not take constructive criticism. It is sad when grown-ups aren’t close to their actual years (dog or otherwise)…LOL

Your right our results are what matters and my top 10 only has 3 of the ones on your list. I’ve been getting very good results lately from some sites you don’t see on anyone’s top 10 like TrafficPunk, PromoLotto and TrafficWitch. Always, Always do your own tracking and never believe any list it’s your own results that count. There are many exchanges that no one even tests that have amazing results and some that are everyone’s lists that don’t do a thing for what I am advertising!

Exactly – as for Traffic Witch, it’s been in my top 10 for quite a while, just happened to not be in there this week. Another reason to not trust top 10s, they change frequently lol
Nice plugin Tim,
Each exchange has it’s own demographic as well. The big exchanges will cater to a larger audience and generally be a good place to advertise. Pending some testing of course.
I’ll have to agree that doing your own testing is important, Tim’s list and the others mentioned are a great place to start.

The comment link on ‘Evil Affiliate Links’ is not working so I’ll comment here.
I think DIGG has just proven this.
BTW, the ‘ask’ form takes forever loading. Is there any other way to ask
questions?
You can email me, I’ll have to see why it’s not working ;-)
Even experimental stuff can be good. I have a short list where my stuff does well. I can’t surf too many exchanges while I am still working, so I don’t have 10 to check.
Thanks Tim,
Carole
I always like top 10 lists, but only for entertainment purposes. In fact, if you follow them and use them to the letter, you are actually a week behind. What worked last week, may not work this week. Nothing wrong with a top 10, but a consistent use of a few top programs, over time, will yield results. The blog is flying high, Tim, good stuff!

Good point.. Never thought of it like that, you are looking at old data lol (its true though)
Tim,
I wondered how many of the 112 exchanges listed by your own Traffic Exchange List did you actually submit your site to to do this testing?
I’ll wager your results are tainted by your own personal choices. What good is a list like this to anyone else?
Regards,
John
My top 10 list is my own opinion. You should never take ANY list as gospel. Always track your own…These top 10 lists are just a guide. Nothing more.

I try to keep credits assigned in every exchange that is ranked, but obviously this isn’t possible. So I go by results first, if I get consistent results from xyz exchanges, I’ll make sure they have credits first and work my way down.
But I make no claim that the list on my blog is unbiased. It is, very biased, by me.
Traffic Exchange List is biased by the thousands using the rotators, so there is bias but in that case its good bias because you are seeing stats over a large population vs a small one.
Tim, and Everyone
First off, Happy Easter! Second. . .top tens are good for this. . .Some people like chocolate pudding while some like vanilla or tapioca. . . .
O.K. lately my theory is that the farther away from the “big 10″ I get the better results I will have. I am basing this on the premise that while, you (Tim) Paul, Jon and Soren do an incredible job of self promotion as well as the best example I’ve seen of promoting each other. . .doesn’t this just fill those programs with the same members?
I am interested in finding a set TE’s (or other ad exchanges) that have never heard of SX, ILH or T-Splash. . .now there you’ll find a whole new batch of members that have never seen your offer. . . .but, alas, time is not on my side. I am already established, and getting some results in what I have. . .starting over in a new TE takes time to become “branded”
Just my eight cents worth

Hi Dale
Good point, but its actually shocking how much overlap there isn’t. I do some hardcore tracking and have a weekly printout that tells me how I’m comparing to other exchanges.
For instance Traffic-Splash has 7,000+ members that are surfing there that I know aren’t surfing on StartXchange. That is why even though we do join promotions, I advertise inside the exchange with thousands of hits!
But if you get better results from other exchanges then go for it, just saying that you’d *think* that we have all the same members, but I got hard proof we don’t ;-)
Tim
I have to agree with all the above, my top 10 changes each week – to the point that I would have hard time saying that there is even a top 10 for me. There are so many wonderful TE’s out there – including small ones up to the larger ones and I get results in all of them, guess it just depends on what you are looking for – looking just for quantity or quality.
Get blogs Tim, keep up the good work.
Tim
I took your advice on a previous top ten and switched up some of my advertising. Here is my problem. It changes every week. I have way too many surf sites. Because the lists are in such a state of flux, the top 20 are always changing. On a weekly basis this report is good for some information but if we went a year that would probably be more accuratepicture.
Sue – That is why you need to test your results, because you’ll know which exchanges are providing YOU the results. It really is different for every advertisement.
The top lists are starting points. If you have say 5 exchanges, and you want to move to 6, then look at the top lists and see which one you aren’t using is mentioned most, and then try it. But as you increase the exchanges track & take note of which ones give you results or don’t.
If you can only do say 10 at a time, then consider picking the worst performer each week and replacing it with an exchange you haven’t tried yet (or at least not in a while). Then keep track of the results and re-try exchanges that gave OK results again in the future.
Tim
I have the plugin on my site and I really must be slipping. I should have made my own site number one. So what does that say about my site? Well it’s new for one thing and I don’t want anyone to think I’m bragging:)
