Is Mass Pay Really A Good Thing?

The question of the day is.. Mass Pay, or Claim Commissions? I'm not really sure which is best. Both have pros, both have cons. So I set up an official poll here. You'll have to be a StartXchange member of course =P

On the one hand I like getting paid automatically, because sometimes I'll forget to login for a while. But on the other hand "set it and forget it" isn't a good thing because I don't want people to forget they are earning!

When you see how much you've earned it's exciting. Even if its $10, hey that's $10 you earned online with your business right? You've got to start somewhere.

Then again, mass pay is great for an owner because we don't have to play the bank and hold the money aside until the person decides to claim it. Come tax time it can be annoying, because if the money is in my hands I get taxed on it.

Anyways I just wanted to know what your thoughts are on it. When you get a mass pay payment, do you notice it and still get excited?

James Vest August 7, 2009 at 9:22 am: That’s a tough one, Tim. I guess it just depends on how badly I need the money, which seems to be most of the time, LOL. So, if I had to choose, it would be to request it.

As both an owner and a member/referrer I prefer Mass Pay.

Mass Pay makes the accounting process a whole lot easier for me as an owner and as a referrer I don’t lose any of my commission to PayPal.

All around that is better for me.

If you have high amounts to receive you’ll get higher fees, so mass pay for this one

But if you need it right now, you’ll for claiming commissions :D

BUT I also like to keep my commissions at sites (mostly legitimate revenue sharing sites) so I can use the money to purchase more ventures to increase my profits.

I guess I want the best of both worlds.

Chris August 7, 2009 at 11:20 am: I like the mass payment. Its nice and easy for an admin to go in once a month and make payment and if you run a lot of sites then mass payment is the way to go.

Also when I get paid I like mass payment because as you said we forget to login for awhile. Then I get a big surprise one day when it says I received money and you don’t know what for then look and remember and now you have a big smile on your face :)

I have to have $20 in my account before I receive my commission. Why 20 why not 50 or 100? Perhaps it would be nice to see that you’ve received commission from Startxchange more often.
Marion Bartlett August 7, 2009 at 1:00 pm: Like mass pay with the ability to set amount of when commissions should be sent automatically. Sometimes the fees just about wipe out the payment when the amount is low.

I, like probably lots of others, sometimes forget how much commission there is in my account.
A mail from PayPal reminds me about it, and I like that a lot.

Plus isn’t there a fee advantage for using Mass Pay (for PP premier acct?). Less fees = more $$ in my pocket!

I agree that $20 is a bit high though… just my 2-cents.

Masspay is really a good method.
And it’s better to receive money as soon as they are available.

rubby August 7, 2009 at 6:17 pm: I don’t keep money earned by the members. They get paid after their referral’s purchase is processed. No minimum payment, no cut off payment date. I don’t like the idea of keeping money that is not belong to me.

From the looks of it, mass pay has the majority of the comments. I still do per request because the members like to convert their earnings to credits or impressions at a much higher ratio than if they were to buy them.

Although mass pay would be easier for me, it may not be ideal for the member, you’ll have to let me know how the survey turns out. Maybe I’ll even take my own poll.
