A Simple Cheat Test

Ever wonder if people are viewing your pages on a certain traffic exchange? Here is a simple way to check if people are cheating. Try resizing your browser window so you can only see the surfbar. Then click the next button. If the window doesn’t open back up, then chances are many are surfing with the surfbar only visible.
Warning: This *is* cheating. So if you are doing it already, STOP. Some seem to think it is harmless and don’t think of it as actual cheating, because the surfbar lets you do that. Well it is, and worse it’s not cheating the owner, it’s cheating your fellow surfer.

Wow, I had no idea people could/would do that! Thanks for the heads up

Gosh, I just don’t understand why one would do that. I really feel bad for those who do. If they can cheat in the small things of life, how do they react to the bigger things???

Interesting. I am going to test this on all the exchanges I surf. Thanks for the info, Tim!

Its a sad fact that there are always some that cheat at anything. They will always find a way.
Is it worth surfing on those type of pages. If you do people wont see your ad either.
Over the last week or so Ive spent hours trying to get traffic from sites. Now i know this it has put me off a bit.
Take care and happy surfing.

Hi Tim,
I have aware of this for quite sometime because other surfer have talked (bragged) about how they can rack up so many hit this way.
I think it is foolish to ignore what the majority of the people are interested in because this can help you a lot with your internet marketing campaigns and you can learn a lot from reading other peoples splash pages, I know I do.
I do not do this myself but I know that even though some exchanges use software to force the window open again this can be overcome by using using Mozilla Sea Monkey and a plug-in.
I do not know if you were aware of this.
Thanks for your work to keep traffic exchanges fair for everyone.

Some people will always find a way to cheat others. There´s not so much to do about it.

Scott - Yes, Sea Monkey doesn’t resize properly. However there is a way to overcome that.. Try doing it on StartXchange and you’ll see ;-)

hi tim.. i dont understand bout ur article..what yhe main purpose?and i also can’t see how does it work… help me
March 13th, 2008 at 8:31 am
Mark, me too!
I’m a habby user of SeaMonkey, what about “resizing, surfbar only, click on next” and so on?
Tim, plz, enlarge your explanation
Was your article purpose made to learn us how some pple cheat TEs?
Have nothing to do with this subject since TE are here for quantity (brand yourself) not for quality.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:58 am
Yes you can brand yourself with quantity, but if your ads aren’t being viewed then you aren’t getting branded. The purpose is to expose cheating, and expose exchanges that are easy to cheat in an attempt to get them to fix it so we get better quality traffic. The only way for that to happen is for you the users to know how to know an exchange can easily be cheated. Every day people leave the industry because they aren’t getting good results, and part of the problem is cheating.
March 13th, 2008 at 9:12 am
So, as I asked you to explain better, how stupid honest clickers get cheated in clicking TE to get their pages viewed?
You talked about browsers, I don’t see your point.
If minimize is allowed, what else?
March 13th, 2008 at 9:19 am
You say a part of the problem comes from cheating.
To me cheating simply is not looking at the pages.
In SX our goal in fact is to keep our rank. And our
goal goes higher and higher.
So I have no time anymore to spend on viewing pages.
Too busy to click and click.
Tim, who is the cheater?
