2009 Year In Review

by Tim on January 6, 2010

A year has gone by, and a new one has begun. So what did we learn from last year? Well I want to know what YOU thought, before I go on to what I thought. In fact, now that I think of it I'll write the post tomorrow and include your thoughts as well. Sound cool?

I sure am tired of “FREE reports” aka “Opt in and receive my marketing mail for the rest of your life.”

So, I guess we learned how to do capture pages and create free reports (of dubious value).

We learned that we must promote ourselves, not replicated company pages.

We learned how important autoresponders are, with many recommended services and good tutorials.

Several very useful programs launched in 2009, such as ad creators, graphic creators, splash page creators, TE Toolbox and others.

It was a year of explosive growth in the number of traffic exchanges. What does that really mean? [sincere question]

Looking forward to 2010 and learning how to implement and refine what’s become available in 2009.

Thanks.

Yea, what Karen said

Hi, Tim, it’s a perfect topic…
I learned that it’s hard to be alive, so one must take care of people he loves and likes!

2009 taught me some valuable lessons about sustainable marketing online.

The key ingredient is targeted traffic, of course. But how do you get it without a lot of hard work or spending a lot of money?

I believe blogging is the best method to create virtual real estate and branding yourself for the future.

I Hope more affiliate marketers would take up the challenge.

Oh this is easy. I learned that potty training the second child is much easier than the first.

Other than that, I learned how important and valuable “branding” oneself is.

Oh and everything Karen said =P

Hi Tim,

I agree with Karen’s comment:

I sure am tired of “FREE reports” aka “Opt in and receive my marketing mail for the rest of your life.”

Which I might add the new launches
that seem to come out every other week.

And of course, the OTO to upgrade even before you know what the new site is all about.

Take Care!

Hi, Tim.

I’ve learned that earning on line is alot like any other business or job, you have to work at it to be successful and make money. It also takes time.

Successful owners and marketers, such as yourself, didn’t get there over night.

You have to be dedicated and enjoy what you do or it’s a waste of time.

Here’s to everyone’s success.

Hi Tim
Yep, what everybody else said (apart from potty training!) also FOCUS – don’t get distracted by the latest offer of this, that or the other. Decide what you are going to do and stick to it.

Have a great 2010.

Keith

Hi Tim, perhaps the most important change I have made in the last 12 months is TRACK TRACK TRACK everything. Find out what works, its not always what you think it might be. And don’t be afraid to try things. Make a splash page, and show it and see what happens. The last 12 months have also focused my thinking on branding and also promoting what ppl might need to improve their business. Its always a challenge but I absolutely love TE’s and lists and affiliate marketing :)

Cheers
Martin

Tim,

What I learned last year is that Google can change the way they grade keywords overnight to leave you stumped as to why you can’t get in the top 10 searches.

On the other hand, I also learned that google search is becoming steadily less important due to BING!

Regards,
John

Wow,

I am going to cop out here and agree with everything said above! I know, but really it was just about all covered. Thank you everyone that made an original post. Karen has covered this subject very well and did the thinking for at least me.
The one thing that I would like to add is staying, being and creating FOCUS because with all the golden opportunities out there these days FOCUS is the key to getting anything done or completed. I set a schedule daily based on thinking the following day through the night before and setting goals and actions into play when the morning arrives. After I read the nights email, I shut down the email box. SHUT it down and move on through my scheduled tasks. When the time is up that I have alloted for each task, I move on to the next. If I need to make adjustments for the following day I do so.
I hope this doesn’t sound too confusing as I didn’t think out this post but if you are having trouble getting anything done on the net, then set some times for each task and tackle it, shut down the information overload and set some goals.
Thanks To all that have helped me out throughout 2009 and lets make 2010 a Great and prosperous year

Happy New Year,
Douglas J Gregory
