When you are doing any kind of referring.. From telling friends to play Sitizens with you to joining whatever program you are promoting.. You need to talk to people!
There was a GREAT discussion in the StartXchange Chat on Friday where a few members were talking about uplines not talking to their downlines. One of them even named names!
The point was that when you join a program or site under someone and never hear from them, you can feel alone, forgotten, etc. That’s not a good thing for someone who is just joining, and it’s not a good thing if you want them to join under you again.
There are so many tools already available it’s really not an excuse. The only excuse you have is either laziness, or not realizing you should do it. So I hope to change #2 for you today.
It’s as simple as PMing someone when they join, remembering who they are and saying HI to them in chat, and asking if they need help. Really, doesn’t take much time. But it does take effort.
IMO it will have profound effects on the activity of your downline. Tired of seeing people quit? Talk to them! Most people quit out of confusion or frustration. Most people join something because they’ve already been sold on the idea and want it. So help them!
So true and great little post. I remember back in the day going through that! I learned the importance of reaching your down line.
Just unfortunate sometimes they don’t respond, but if we at least make the attempt then people cant talk behind your back saying you didn’t without being untruthful.
TGIM Thanks for sharing.
The social aspect of our industry has increased and even reformed the way we promote. Definitely a plus since most traffic exchanges, resources and yes, Sitizens now has some form of chat or PM.
Surfers love it which means increased activity for those sites that offer it. Taking this into consideration, Top TE will be offering this feature very soon, hopefully connecting surfers across spans of TEs, including those that do not have chat or pm systems.
Thank you for the insights as usual Tim.
Hi Tim,
I’m guilty of not speaking to downlines in that I don’t go out and actively ask them stuff. With the high proportion of slot machine marketers it is not worth my time as generally by saying hello they think I should join them in “fad-marketing-101″.
Now if someone comes to me and asks a sensible question I will reply, but you can only lead the horse to water so many times before you let the bloody thing die of thirst.
Harsh words, but it does take 2 to have a conversation.
