With the recent super growth of Pinterest I’ve noticed the trend of other websites using a similar Pinterest style news feed. It’s driving me nuts!
In particular I’m talking about Empire Avenue.. I get confused every time I goto their site now. I thought this was about buying and selling friends. Ahhh.
Now I get what they tried to do, they tried to make it more like a hot growing site. The problem with that is that site growth is primarily with women. They can understand a whole mash of information, whereas most guys look at it and go ???
So it’s important when following trends to understand your market and the market of the trend. You could end up killing activity on your site if you are following trends for other markets!
I still visit Empire Avenue most days, mainly to buy shares and check for missions where I can collect eaves.
I don’t explore the site at all other than for that because I find the navigation so ugly and confusing.

Exactly. I agree.
I know that it is good business practice to keep up with the modern trends and to adapt to new tecnology, and all that. And I do agree that some trends a confusing……I don’t feel it to be wrong to give new trends a chance to evolve a little, and maybe they will prove useful and maybe not.
