Interview with Ray White

1) How and when did your online business get started?
First became interested in online business in late 2004. Like many jumped from one affiliate program to another with no direction or plan. Became a member of Stone Evans PlugInProfit Site system and struggled learning the basics needed.
The PIPS program as it is called includes Traffic Swarm, my first membership and introduction to traffic exchanges. From there the rest is history, became very interested in traffic exchanges and the potential for my own business.
In mid 2006 began communicating with Dan Moses on the possibility of owning my own traffic exchange. Developed my own program downline builder called the Private Success Team. A Downline Secrets script that started out promoting SFI as the main program along with PageSwirl, ILoveHits and the Free Click Thru Club.
This program is still running but now uses the core SFI along with the Free Click Thru Club and Soaring4Traffic as traffic generators.
Plans starting coming together with the help of Dan Moses to build Soaring4Traffic in late 2006, with plans for launch around mid Feb 2007. With the delay of design graphics, unique scripts being written, etc. Soaring4Traffic.com was officially launched on June 4th, 2007.
With some help from JV partners, the first week produced over 1100 members. Very exciting times.
2) Which exchange(s) do you own or co-own?
I currently own Soaring4Traffic.com and recently purchased ProClickExchange.com from Dan Moses in early December 2007. New graphics design is in place already with many changes done and more planned.
3) Do you currently work exclusively online?
I work at home exclusively, both online and offline. Offline business requires the help of my friend and partner.
4) How many hours per day do you spend on your exchange(s)?
Currently I spend a minimum of 8-10 hours online per day. Some days much more depending on situations.
5) Do you do support yourself, or do you outsource support?
I personally handle all support and answer through email support directly, through yahoo IM or phone.
6) How fluent are you with HTML, javascript, and PHP?
My knowledge of HTML, Javascript, and PHP are very limited. Basic HTML, learning some PHP, however when serious issues arise, help is needed.
7) Approximately how many members join your exchange a month?
Our average over the last few months has been from 500-600 per month.
8) Does most of your advertising come from members referring, or you?
Most new memberships come from my personal advertising and various downline builders that have included Soaring4Traffic.
9) Are you subscribed to any blogs? Which is your favorite?
Currently I subscribe to Tim Linden’s blog. Jon Olson’s Hit Exchange News (favorite), the Pro Tracker Plus blog, Tony Tezak’s blog, and I use Google alerts to find other interesting blogs and forums related to traffic exchanges. Currently have 4 blogs, but concentrate most on the Soaring4Traffic and Pro Click Exchange blogs, mainly for news and updates to members.
10) What would be the biggest tip you could give to readers?
Find a niche you enjoy, create a blog and start writing. Invest in a domain, hosting, auto responder, and focus on building your list of subscribers. Plan, budget, set realistic goals, invest in the right tools, participate in online forums to not only learn, get advice but let yourself be known. Stick with your plans, don’t be tempted by the next best promise of riches over night. Focus Focus Focus, and realize its a business not a miracle. Then advertise like your life depended on it.

Thanks Dan and Amy. :)
Funny thing, I had forgotten doing this interview, it was like 4 months ago?
Someday I’ll tell the story of how my Internet business could have taken a whole different direction, had it not been for one email received.
