Interview with Franscisca Kruissink

This entry is part 1 of 11 in the series Traffic Exchange Owner Interviews

I sent a set of questions to about 60 traffic exchange owners. Each Tuesday I’ll be publishing an interview, and our first interview today is Franscisca Kruissink of Hit2Hit!

How and when did your online business get started?

I bought the script in May 2005 and set it up in May. I made the lay out and made a few splash pages. I also made sure I had many credits at many traffic exchanges by the time I launched (September 6th 2005) so people no matter whether they surfed had to see Hit2Hit lol haha.

Which exchange(s) do you own or co-own?

http://www.hit2hit.com (own)

Do you currently work exclusively online?

Yes however the money earned with Hit2Hit has been going in promotion and hosting of Hit2Hit for the most part the last couple of months. The framed site for the upgrades :-D You know that site which I promote for the upgrades so their site gets seen at 30+ traffic exchanges for free. However I got some tips left and right (thank you V! and thank you P!) so from this month on I should earn a least a dime per hour lol (I work around 80 to 120 hrs per week online) and maybe a whole lot more. Seriously it should be more than a dime thank you for the tips V and P much appreciated!

How many hours per day do you spend on your exchange(s)?

Ah here’s that question average per day 14 and a quarter hrs :-D

Do you do support yourself, or do you outsource support?

I do support myself :-)

How fluent are you with HTML, javascript, and PHP?

HTML I get to put down what I want. I probably use redundant code and am for sure “not a neat writer” :-D

Javascript: You can best say it’s none existent.

PHP: I know a few other programing languages which makes it possible for me to know what can and what can’t be done with PHP however I can’t write PHP, I might go learn the basics after all I did purchase the PHP book 5 months ago to learn it … not to let it collect dust… so who knows I might learn some. For now I know what can and can’t be done and which part is code and which not. So basically I don’t know PHP. :-)

Approximately how many members join your exchange a month?

Approximately 1,000 new members sign up every month :-)

Does most of your advertising come from members referring, or you?

50/50 I think.

Are you subscribed to any blogs? Which is your favorite?

None, my favourite N/A lol

What would be the biggest tip you could give to readers?

Well actually I have a few: (Sorry)

  1. I always wonder how come that in general people that are selling a program that cost $1,500.00 or more sign up surf 5 sites and get inactive, why spent such a high amount of money and not try to sell it? It’s really odd seems to be most done by people with very expensive programs. If you don’t have the time to surf you might want to spent another 10 dollars on top of the 1500 dollars that’s peanuts and might give you a good return (or better purchase a splash page and buy some credits).
  2. I am not going to say use splash pages No I am not! (Tip 2 use splash pages).
  3. Use a squeeze page (collect address of members give them something free for signing up and tell them on the site what you’ll teach them). (list-building)
  4. Don’t jump from program to program, look for a few good programs and stick with them, promote them, hopping from program to program usually will not earn you much money the only ones that’ll receive cash with it are the ones with big lists.
  5. Sell or promote that what others need for a price they can afford. Think what you need yourself (could be an auto-responder, but is for sure traffic any one and everyone needs traffic :-) )
  6. Being your own boss is great. I hear and read so many say I work only a few hours per week and earn lots of money, the only ones who can show me lots of money are those that work double full time online. Working online is great just a warning don’t believe the people that tell you will earn a full time income in a couple of hours per week, after a few years of working double full time you may (if you planned well) work much less hours and then again you may not. Money doesn’t grow on trees at least not in Holland (Europe) if it does in your country please mail me :-)
  7. Make a plan and write it down. What is you want to have achieved in 5 years from now. Divide the plan into pieces of 1 year then 3 months then 1 month, write it down what you achieved each month and keep track where you are in the time-line adjust if it should be adjusted to a longer or shorter period, also have a much longer plan than the 5 years. The end results by doing this you will be more motivated which will make you see better results and you will know what to expect any month of the time-line when and how many people you need to hire (if that’s in your plan) how much you have to work what you have to do how much you’ll earn etc etc.

I think its wonderful of you Franscisca to take the time to get a little up close and personal. Kudos! This shows just how human the admin of these programs are and your dedication. I always thought Admin was easy and paid well but all those hours, OUCH.
Hope this brings you the added publicity you deserve working so hard.
    Dave

You have a nice site and it looks to be well maintained…

I do however wish more traffic exchange owners were
like Tim Linden who offers his members the option of
viewing sites with or WITHOUT sound…

Just a thought…You know, “Freedom of Choice” being
able to choose where or not you wanna listen to their
particular pitch about a product or service…

As to the members well that is another story…

Keep up the good work and all the best to you Fran!

    Kindest regards,
    BJ

Yes, it takes time to build a business on the Net.
Time and lots of sleepless hours!
I know all about that! LOL!

But Franscisca, your promotion seems to be working,
it seems everywhere I go, I read about you! :-)

    Keep up the good work!

  11. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Stephen Phillips (thirstan) Says:

One great thing about Franscisca, when she replies to emails, she gives a very “real” response. She seems like the girl next door rather than the generic tech support type of response. That type of service will always rank much higher than some of the other sites.

    Hello Fanscisca;

Thank you for your very interesting and informative post. I really enjoyed reading it.

I know what you mean about long hours, my Wife and I both work all day and most of the night, sometimes until 3:00 AM, working on our websites and promoting them. Being retired, we have more time than money so we rely heavily on traffic exchanges and other forms of free or low cost on and off-line advertising.

Like you said, Goal Setting is very important. We have a 6-Step Plan for achieving our goals…

    1. Decide
    2. Do
    3. Follow Through
    4. Analyze
    5. Adjust
    6. Overcome

Thanks again for taking the time to write this post. I, and probably many others, have a new-found respect for what Traffic Exchange Owners do.

I am a member of Hit-2-Hit and I promise you this, I will be using and promoting it a whole lot more from now on.

    Kindest Regards,
    Len Cenotti

    Great interview response Franscisca. :)

I for one know how hard you work and the hours you put in. Since Franscisca and I chat online sometimes, at very weird hours for both of us, I know she puts in the hours and maybe even more. :)

Franscisca, your hard work is paying off for sure. I get tons of traffic and lots of results from Hit2Hit…and that my friend is what its all about.

    Warmest regards,
    Ray

    Hi Franscisca,

    Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I am a member of your TE, so I can relate more easily to what you have stated.

Tim, I can’ post any more because of that annoying baby picture that keeps blocking the text area. How the heck does one shut it down? Jeff.

    Cant

  17. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Edwin (Holidayfreak) Says:

    Hello Francisca,

thanks for answering the 10 questions and the tips. I really appreciate it.
I think the interviews will be also of interest for fellow admins.
For me they are very interesting and I think Tim has a good idea here.

I can confirm that money does not grow in the trees here in the Netherlands :-) At least, i haven’t seen or heard about it. If someone does contact you about a country where money does grow in trees, please forward that message to me.

    Thanks Francisca and Tim.
    Groetjes (Greetings)

    Edwin.

  18. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Tim Says:

LOL Jeff that’s my daughter you are talking about, be careful! =P No really though I’ve been noticing it getting hung up on the design of this blog. I might just have to remove that cute face =P

  19. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Jeff Henshaw (website) Says:

Yep, I guessed that Tim. No offense meant and none taken, I know.
The picture is a bit of a pain though, perhaps because I use Firefox and not the dreaded IE? Regards

    R

  20. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Tim Says:

Not sure, I use FF also. Either way I finally removed it. Works best on splash pages where there isn’t anything to get in the way ;-)

  21. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Franscisca Kruissink (zonnetje) Says:

Hi Sunny, you still might do with different or more question unless you don’t feel like it anymore ofcourse :)

Hi Tony :D Thank you :D!

Hi Ron, (Mr Import Export) Thank you :) I hope you are talking from Sunday off 36 hrs and not Monday midnight unless you live down under, there it is already Wednesday (here that’ll start
in 5 minutes). Thank you for your wishes! Best wishes to you and all here!!

Hello Lucie :) Yes it does, those ads that say: work a couple of hours a week and you’ll earn 5,000 per month within 30 days, IF THEY WERE TRUE we’d all do that haha. So off we go work work work :) but online it’s great I really enjoy it :)

I am glad to hear wherever you go you read about me :) Hopefully solely good things :)
    Thank you for the compliment!

Stephen thank you so much I am very grateful you say that, happy to hear you prefer it, some might not :| glad you do!! :)

Hi Mr. Ron Thank you! Hope to see you soon :)

Hello Erzsebet, my pleasure :) thank you for taking the time to read and replying :)

Hi Len :) That’s the great thing from traffic exchanges, if you don’t have any money you still are able to show your sites/opportunities and earn some money. Working hard means going through the learning curves faster and building the business faster. What I personally like is when I surf for a while (several hours) I immediately see result, see people sign up I love it makes one see traffic exchanges work, as long as one know how and what to promote.

I like your 6 step :) short but tells so much. Should be on every website lol with @copyright 2008 Len Cenotti & Wife :)

Thank you for going to use and promoting it more thank you so much! :) I do have the best members lol keep saying it but you all keep proving it thank you!

Hello Edwin :) when someone mails me about those trees I’ll let you know but … I do need your email address for that =p If it grows on flowers should I mail you too?
Groetjes en gauw naar bed ‘t is al lang kinderbed tijd lol haha. hihi

    She is cute Tim :)

Thank you all for reading and replying now I am going to rush to the admin site to check sites banner text links and answer mails.

Every best wish for you all !! :)

  22. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Jeff Henshaw (website) Says:

    Thanks Tim.

I have a nice clear text box now … but not much left to say :-(

It’s good to see such prompt responses to the concerns of StartXchange members. That’s a large part of the reason why your exchange is the only one that I surf every day (sometimes a lot, sometimes a little), even though I am a paid member. Oh! and I am a paid and free member of a number of the most popular TEs.

    Keep up the good work.

    Jeff Henshaw.

  24. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Franscisca Kruissink Says:

    Hi Stephanie :)

Thank you for your compliments  I hope this will help people :)

It’s my pleasure to answer each person as long as possible (if all 28,000+ members of StartXchange would reply I am afraid it would be impossible).

you had a great point on #7 - being oranized and staying focused is Everything!

  26. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Franscisca Kruissink Says:

    Hi CC :)

Thank you CC. It is one of the things you learn when studying (offline) companies. Without that… and online it’s no difference I think, maybe scary if you think about it deep, because without a plan where would name any big offline company be? Then on the other hand having that plan is where that big company is now :)

Thank you for reading and replying :)

  27. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Keith Says:

Fascinating interview and I look forward to the rest. It is really good to get an insight into the ‘life’ of a TE owner. I have this crazy notion of running my own TE one day - maybe at the end of this series of interviews I may change my mind!

  28. See my profile on MyBlogLog.com! Franscisca Kruissink (zonnetje) Says:

    Hi Keith :-)

I think this serie will also be great for people like you who are considering
    starting a traffic exchange :-)

If you start one, I wish you good luck and lot’s of fun! :-)

    Franscisca.
