Interview with Dan Moses

1) How and when did your online business get started?
I started in 1999-2000 by joining a MLM company called SkyBiz.com They sold a 35 meg website package with an education package and software to build websites.
I moved quickly from learning how to build websites onto charging small businesses $50 an hour to build websites for them using that builder. In 2001 they went out of business and at that moment (after building a large team and losing them over night) I realized that I wanted to have control over my own online business.
Then I went onto reading hundreds of ebooks online and started to build a list of opt-in subscribers by giving away free ebooks for their name and email address.
Once I built that list to about 300 subscribers I sold my first product to them (Make Your Site Sell - Ken Evoy).
From there I meet some people online that could help teach me how to do HTML and together we built some programs I still own today.
2) Which exchange(s) do you own or co-own?
My first Traffic Exchange was ClickMaster Pro and I still own it today.
From there I went on to own ProClickExchange (which I just sold to Ray White). Then I learned how to build TEs and now own ProTrafficShop.com, PowaSurf.com, 4×4hits.com and co-own GoneClicking.com, ClicknPutt.com and am a silent partner on one no ones knows about. :)
3) Do you currently work exclusively online?
Yes! And have been now for 4 and 1/2 years.
I did, however, work with my dads business in 2006 and generated some income from that… But 2007 was sully supported from my online businesses (which was my best year yet) In other words, 2007’s income was higher then any other year and every penny earned was from my online business.
Very exciting year! :D
4) How many hours per day do you spend on your exchange(s)?
Well, I also own some other programs besides TEs so with those and my TEs I work full time from home. About 40 hours a week give or take.
5) Do you do support yourself, or do you outsource support?
Yes and no, I have one employee and another person that helps greatly with support. I also do my fair share of support.
6) How fluent are you with HTML, javascript, and PHP?
HTML no problem… Javascript know some… and PHP pretty fluent. I am what you would call a jack of all trades… I’ve learned enough about everything to be able to work on my programs and create new ones pretty much on my own.
7) Approximately how many members join your exchange a month?
Well that’s a good question… They all grow each month and the new members vary to each program… but over all there’s about 2000 new members coming in to all my programs each month.
8) Does most of your advertising come from members referring, or you?
I think it’s a 70/30 split. I offer some of the highest commissions in the industry and about 70% comes from my members promoting my programs either with their efforts or their memberships. I have a few Affiliate Co-ops that they pay into and I do the advertising for them. So you can look at that in either way. They pay for the new members, but I do the advertising for them.
9) Are you subscribed to any blogs? Which is your favorite?
I frequent bogs day to day, but have never really subscribed to any. I was a little slow on getting into blogs, but do find them a great addition to a program. Favorites? I really don’t have any. I like to keep up on what’s going on as much as I can, but running 10+ programs and websites is very time consuming and it can be challenging to spend a lot of time visiting blogs online.
10) What would be the biggest tip you could give to readers?
Be willing to do whatever it takes! Most people give up on their dreams and businesses when it gets tough. That’s why 95% fail trying to get a substantial business off the ground. So never give up and stick with it no matter what. Also… get out of your comfort zone and meet the people that will help you succeed.. don’t be shy put yourself out there.

Wow…..it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the Skybiz name. Painful memories, but the online bug was set for me, as well as Dan it seems.
Great interview Tim - thanks!
Best,
Scott

Would just like to add that Dan’s advice about getting out there and meeting new people to help you succeed is spot on.. :)
Why, because before I started getting to know Dan, my wheels were spinning in all directions. Without his help, advice, and continued support, not sure that my online success could be called “success” … :)
First got to know Dan through PageSwirl.com, then became a member of all his programs, still am… lol except the one he sold me ProClickExchange. Think that is the only program he has ever sold?
Good interview my friend and good advice for everyone.

Hi Dan,
Great interview my friend. I forgot all about skybox that was a blast from the past! You have been a great inspiration to alot of people myself included. You couldn’t have picked a better owner to sell ProClick Exchange to. Knowing Ray I’m sure we will be seeing alot ahead for PCE. The best thing about you Dan is no matter how successful you have become your right there helping us when we need help. I wish you much success in the future!

Huh… SkyBiz.com(had forgotten), paid for 3 accounts & get zero return. That time, I had not much computer knowledge, just rely on friends to do whatever with SkyBiz, as busy in Business.
Was a Businessman then(12years) until everything went burst in 2007, partnership disharmony-owing company money & didn’t pay(US$150,000++) for buying stocks from my company + other company loans. Had all my properties secured to the Banks for Business Facilities & had to sell off everything to pay all the debts. Houses,Cars,Money all gone.
Live with it now & move-on.
Congrats to Dan for all the Success.
Cheers..
