Today it has been VERY cold. Right now its in the SINGLE DIGITS. And I have a confession to make. Yes, I, Tim Linden, forgot my poor cat had been outside for a bit longer than he should have been. You see I have been in a programming mood today, so after letting him out I was focused on work for a while. Well when I finally realized it, I called his name outside, and I heard a russle. I looked over and saw him standing there. It looked like he forgot what he was doing or something, so I called him again and he looked and he slowly started to walk. Finally he made it in, but I was worried he had like frozen joints.
So anyways the soup. Yeah, so what do you tend to want on COLD days? Something WARM. or HOT. So I decided to go to Stop and Shop and buy some soup. I even was considering buying some cheese and bread to make grilled cheese. Mmmm. Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. I was also looking for something beef stewy. Actually thats what I originally thought I was going to get, but the grilled cheese caught my mind. So anyways, I get in my car, turn the ignition.. And it started. Now if you haven't been in the car with me on a cold day, you'd be as shocked as I was. It started the first turn of the key. Sometimes I gotta try it, hold it there a bit, and wait. I think what happens is the holding of the key lets out the current a bit, but its not enough because the battery is so cold. BUT, while holding it I think it may warm it up a bit. Then you gotta wait so the battery is back full charge. And then it usually starts. So its either that, or God just answers my plea's that it will start.
Let me take a breif moment to explain the choosing of the door to go into Stop and Shop. You see, shopping is a BIG task, especially around the holidays. People everywhere in the way, what should you do!? Well I ALWAYS go in the RIGHT door. Thats the door that is near the check out machines you do yourself. You see I go in that door because I had three things I was potentially getting. Bread, Soup, and Cheese. Bread is on the right side. I can then go from Bread to Soup to Cheese using the back isle. This isle isn't cluttered by shopping carts and people standing around looking at the isle signs. Then as I walk from the far left to the right (again using the back isle), I can catch any items I realized I forgot on the way getting the cheese. No running back and forth, I'm already walking that way! Then just jump on the machine, pick an empty one (and if they are all being used, pick the one with the youngest looking person, even if that person has a FULL cart, and the old person has ONE tomato. You see it will take more time for the old person to figure out the darn machine and get their reading glasses to read the tiny number on the tomato sticker to type into the machine to purchase, and then the whole paying thing..)
So while driving I noticed not many people are out on the roads. Eh, whatever. I get in the stop and shop parking lot. Thats when I started having the feeling that it was a Sunday and EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED. But nope, its monday. I walk in. I saw maybe 2 NON employees the whole time. Which BOTH happened to be in line before me when I went to pay. Go figure. Anyways, I ended up supporting those in Florida by buying some non-concentrated orange juice squeezed from fresh florida oranges. It tasted very good too. So I get to the cheese area, and guess what. Apparently the DELI had already closed. No grilled cheese for me. Just bread. Maybe cream cheese.
So I carry my items to my car, and I had to figure out which pocket had my keys in it. Mind you I have two bags of groceries now, and its in the SINGLE DIGITS, and I'm fumbling around trying to get my keys. I finally get them, and then I dropped them in the ice/snow/ground. Could it take any longer? Yes. Fortunately it didn't however.
I get home, I start cooking some beef and potatos. Looking yummy. mmm mmm. I pull it out of the microwave, and peel the clear wrap off. Thats when I noticed. MUSHROOMS! ugh. I hate mushrooms. They make me feel all queezy and such. Great. So I open up a new can, cook up another thing of soup, this time a traditional chicken and vegatable soup. I pull the wrap off, say a prayer, and take a bite. It wasn't even warm. I just said forget it and ate it anyways. It still tasted good, but was disappointing. Anyways. That orange juice was really good. I'm going to go get more..
