Slow it down!
In this fast paced world, it is very hard to hear God speak. And it only comes down to the choices that I make.
I talked about cutting out the TV, and I’ll breifly point something else out. While watching TV, I am constantly being slammed with changing images. TV Shows are constantly moving from different angles to different scenes. Commercials that last only seconds have full stories in them and flash everything they can before my eyes.
How can I expect to honestly be still before God, and study His Word if I am constantly having information thrown at you. I can’t.
You know from the other post that I’ve decided to cut out the TV in my life. I hope that by doing so I’ll slowly be able to concentrate and focus yet again. I find it so difficult to pray, read the Word, memorize, etc because my mind is constantly running at full speed.
The book that I’m currently reading talks about this. It also made me realize how the second I get in the car, I have to turn on music. Or while I’m working I am always listening to music.
And I wonder why I can’t stay focused! Every 1 minute 30 seconds a new song is playing, and the words are filling my thoughts. I need to just slow it down!

Hmm? I listen to Worship CD’s about the same amount I listen to my Christian Rock CD’s in the car. I can agree to an extent though ….
