If you've visited my site in the past, you know I've got piles of photos left to show. I may start re-introducing photographs in the near future. Right now I have about 1,699 photos marked as "Public", and 6,621 photos marked as "Private".
Before just uploading all the pictures I take, I have to mark them as public because there are many photos that shouldn't go on my website. Some pictures the people in them will become so angry at me if I were to put it on the web, or even if they knew I had them, so I need to keep things undercover.
What I would like to do is have a photogallery with actual comments next to each picture. As you can imagine, 8000+ photos would take a LONG time to sort through and add a comment for. So what I am thinking about doing is having a "Photo of the Day" feature, where each day a new photo is revealed and my comments are there.
I'm not sure how exactly I will do this, but it will be interesting. I think it would increase traffic too because each day people will return to see the latest picture. Or maybe once a week. But either way, daily new content is a big plus. The only problem is I'd have to do this daily, or I'd have to do it in batches. I could have a folder full of photos and their comments that is just a holding place for them. Then each day I'll have a cron job select a random photo and put that as todays newest picture.
I think having the comments will make the pictures more thoughtfull too. I mean I could take a picture of a patch of grass and you'd have no idea what it means. Kinda like art, only seeing a picture of grass you'd think "Oh this was just dumped up there", when in reality it was purposely put there for a reason.
