I've been thinking about lately how there is this emphasis in the QBC forum that what we think isn't what the Church thinks. However it is what the Church thinks because we are the Church. It seems like there is this fear that what is said in the forum will represent the Church and could lead people away from QBC. Well shouldn't we be thinking about presenting ourselves Christ-like because we ARE representing the Church? I think I'll change my signature to "My words represent one member of the body of Christ and should reflect a Christ-like attitude." You think having that instead of "My words mean nothing." would make me think twice about posting something that isn't Christ-like?
Really we can be wrong and still Christ-like in our attitude. If we can lead someone to Christ with our sin and inacurate thoughts - then I think its safe to be wrong in a forum of other beleivers who can point us lovingly in the right direction. But you see thats where the attitude comes in. Lovingly. Hmmm.

I get what you’re saying, and yeah, we are all the Church, but if I were looking for a church BODY and went to their forum and saw name-calling and mud-slinging, I’d high-tail it out of there. As far as opinions about doctrinal matters, I think it’s important to have the disclaimer because we’re discussing things publicly and may be seen as teachers because we’re in “leadership” roles. My own disclaimer is so GOD hopefully won’t hold me responsible for leading people astray because someone looks up to me and takes what I say as the gospel truth, when I’ve got a pea-brain compared to the mind of God!! Know what I mean? Even if we were in a private conversation and discussing doctrinal matters, I’d preface my comments with, “Now this is my opinion, and where I stand right now…” When it comes to the gospel, there’s no gray area…it’s black or white. Jesus or nothing. But stuff like election vs. free will, or whether someone can “backslide” for 15 years and still be saved, etc…I don’t want to be seen as a teacher in those areas.
