I tried out the new "My Yahoo" page, and added my RSS feed to it. It works great except for one ANNOYING detail.. all the times are off ranging from 1-2 hours. I don't know why they are, but for some reason they are.
And to make things even more annoying, I've sent emails to their tech support 3 times now, and each time I get a response with the following instructions:
A. Check your Refresh Rate in My Yahoo!
B. Check the date on your computer and make sure it is correct.
C. Check your browser's cache settings.
D. It is necessary at times to clear your browser's cache.
A -- I can't seem to find what they are talking about.. an Add/Delete pages link? Hmm maybe when I clicked on the link that said "Upgrade your page to the new My Yahoo" it changed it, so the canned message is no longer valid for my yahoo.
B -- Even if the date on my computer was incorrect, I still would know it hasn't been 2 hours since my post 1 minute ago
C -- Tells me how to clear the cache in Netscape 7.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.0
D -- Tells me how to clear the cache in Netscape 4.0 and higher for Windows or Mac, Internet Explorer 4.x for Mac, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x and 5.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.0.
Another reply I got told me how to use their API to ping their crawler to update the page. Yep, did that already. How else would it list my new post a minute after posting it?
Do you think my final request is too harsh?
I am getting canned responses. I need someone with a technical
background to take the time to read the problem I am having. I am a
web developer, I understand how RSS works, how to use the XML-RPC
interface, I know what my cache is, and how to clear it. This has
nothing to do with any of that.
