Everyone is always wondering what the secret to X is, or the secret to Y is. A few days ago in Traffic Exchange Live we had someone ask what the secret to success was? (or something like that)
Well I'm going to give it to you. The Secret Sauce is People. No matter what you are selling, it involves people. If there are no people, well you've got no money because you need them to buy from you.
The sooner you understand that, the better off you'll be. It can be very tough though, because people are busy. People want what they want, not what you want. People can be a real pain to deal with.
But when you sit back and remember that it's people you need to succeed you'll start to ignore some of their flaws. Everyone has them, and you do too, but if you only looked at my flaws and ignored the things I talk about, you won't learn anything there.
The biggest flaw people have now is busyness. Everyone is so busy in their own world, when you try to network with someone it can get frustrating. It happens with me all the time, by me I mean people trying to get my attention.
Usually it's about Traffic Exchange List or Top Exchanges, usually it's someone upset that they aren't in the fictisious inner circle and I won't list them. But usually that's not the case. I want to list every traffic exchange. Seriously, every single one! I just don't have the time. So I do it whenever I'm in the mood.
So what happens next? Well if you understand people, and you see me as another person, you'll be patient and at some point you'll get what you want cuz it'll get added. But if you don't understand people, you'll hold a grudge and burn bridges with me thinking there is some kind of conspiracy.
This is an area I really try hard to work on myself. I try not to hold grudges or assume the worst about someone, because we are all people and we are working with a very impersonal medium. The worst thing you could do for your business is push away from people and hide away by yourself, because without any people around your business will fail.
So there you go.

When I first started to read I thought-”well duh-we all know that Tim”
Then I thought of my last reply to an upset member and it dawned on me that while it may be an obvious deduction-it is something we need to be reminded of,and that I was very guilty of forgetting the basics.
You just made my day,and my members, a lot easier-Thank you Tim-great post.
So True, & very well put! this was one of my biggest hurdles to overcome.
Patience is hard, the rest falls in place.

Have a wonderful new year and keep on shining!
Lynne
If their are no understanding then theirs only kaos . and while listening
take notes for later introductions
This is an excellent post, Tim. I like the way you think. We need to learn to deal with each other better.
Hi, Tim i am a big fun of you! You have a very specific manner of networking with people. There’s so much one can learn from your experience and mindset…
I follow your posts closely and would like to say: thank you for what you’re doing for us, your public!
Brilliant Post Tim
I do know that to get further, one day I will have to join up to an autoresponder!
Still not done it! Just a bit scared of cost vs returns
Well put as usual Tim. It took me six years and a few thousands referrals ( who do nothing for me today ) to learn to be a person first and an affiliate link later.
I guess that’s why I keep the chat on while surfing SX, I get to meet and talk to some awesome people who I’m not trying to sell to.
“The worst thing you could do for your business is push away from people and hide away by yourself, because without any people around your business will fail.”
And when members, customers etc. forget we are human too, it is so easy to want to hide away… Thanks for posting this Tim!
Great message, Tim. People make the world go round. That needs to be recognized before we can move forward. We acknowledge our existence and dependence first, then we proceed with our way of life.
I Like this post Tim we all need to have patience as it is a virtue and I love working with and helping people and we are all different. I am very busy myself so I understand and not hiding,You just have to get my attention LOL
Thanks…for the insightful comments. I look forward to your posts.
I started a project yesterday on LULU and had fun for the first time on my internet journey.
My creativity soared and I came up ewith ways to involve my kids and their very talented spouses.
keep it coming…
Hi Tim,
I Love your blog! you give us sooo much Useful Information. Like this post, I have worked face to face with the public for over 30 years. I now find it hard to deal with the public in person but I am finding out that talking with them through Emails and Forums and Chats to be Very Fulfilling, as well as Much Easier!! LoL
I still agree with you that my relationship with them is one of the Most Important Parts of my Online Business.
Keep up the Great Work

Hi Tim
You are absolutely right. Some patience and tolerance are essential in dealing with other people. Everyone has their flaws. if you want people to tolerate yours, you need to have a reasonable degree of tolerance for theirs too.
Personally, I’m waiting on you to add my traffic exchange to Traffic Exchange List. it would be nice if it was listed straight way, but I’m in this for the long haul, so if I have to wait a little while, so be it. A few days or weeks isn’t going to make much difference in the long run.
All the best
Cristin
Hey Tim, pretty obvious why you run the biggest TE on the planet :) Best wishes to you and everyone for the new year and remember PUT PPL 1st in 2010 and grow your online business :)
Cheers
Martin
hey, we’re all humans
sounds like there’s a good new years resolution in it
Your absolutely right thanks to you, John, John At TE live and the chat At Start X you all have given me a great gift FRIENDS.
Your last statement, was just on topof the nail!
Running an TE requires more than just technical skills. You have to have the mindset, to keep people using the service.
See what happend to schemes promoted by the “Puddy Gang”, issuing “refferals” after so much usage, and the referrals were last seen active to day they signed up, 6 yrs ago. That’s not fraud, it’s how to push away the people, who makes it all work.
And how do they react, upon faced by reality, ohh you have a lot of real referrals, and you complaint – so I am cancelling you.
Thats why I have stayed away from all TE’s, where that bitch has a say.
I wonder why, TE’s like the SX and Traffic-Splash, are carrying along such dead beat.
You have to click 4 times plus the 3-4 times re-login, to gain 1 visitor at the Puddy inspired NX [no exchange],like I Love Hits. It it embarissing even to be a member there, but a necessety to operate your SuperSurf – which is a great idea, adopted by some great exchanges, like:
Traffic-Splash
WebBizInsider
and the oldfashioned with multible log-ins
DragonSurf
TrafficTaxis
and the Elephant in the glass boutique
ILove Hits, crash … booom,… bang!
Please login and click twice……
I would love to see the super surf consist of REAL TE’s, like SX, Traffic-Splash, WebbizInsider, Trafficswarm, etc. Traffic exchanges, who realize that it is people behind, not dumb cows {Mr. Puddy and AdMiNistrator in training) I hope i mispelled it correctly. Never have I met anyone so anti people like that – maeeehhhh.
No let’s get some nice folks in like Paul from Traffic-Splash and Tim from SX, with rapid, precise and (usually:)) accurate answers – and dumb the mass fat.
Keep upthe good job, and keepout those TE’s, requiring you to login between each click!
