The Moving Post

by Tim on May 21, 2009

OK guys so I'm going to be moving soon, in about a week, so things are starting to get crazy. I've never owned a home before, so I had no idea what I was getting into. The number of people involved is amazing..  Realtors, insurance people, mortgage people, inspection people, and on.. No wonder it costs so much to buy a house LOL

But really, I'm going to be trying to keep to the minimum working now. It's real easy to jump at every opportunity but I don't have the time to go off on tangents, so priority is to keep everything running smooth and hold off on new things.

I don't really need to play with cloud computing and content delivery networks right now anyways, right? I mean if the site is working fine does it make sense to go crazy to save $20/month on content delivery? Probably not. And if my backups are working, why fix it right? LOL

Definitely the biggest temptation for me doing this business stuff is all the cool geeky stuff that keeps coming out. Every month there is some new thing that I just want to play with. But no, I'm moving, stay focused!

SO..  If you are in need of support, have a JV request, etc with me and it's taking a long time..  You know why. The best thing you can do is send the email to the support ticket system NOT my gmail or personal email. The ticket system won't lose the email on me, but my gmail will. It's almost a guarantee.

Good Luck Tim on your move, we did it last August (our first purchase of a home)..and I wouldn’t trade places with you at all. BUT it is a great feeling to own your home with the bank ofcourse…lol. Just remember to breathe..and get packed.

Good luck with the move. The best thing I have found about buying a house is that I haven’t had to go through the process of moving since I bought it.

Welcome to Home Ownership 101… It’s full of surprises… and usually when you least expect them. Remember, you’re the one the family will come running to when something doesn’t work! Having a fund set aside to care for the eventual emergency repairs that just seem to happen can be VERY helpful! That water heater that started leaking in the middle of the night can really ruin your plans if you don’t have the money set aside to pay for a new one… and I don’t mean with a credit card either.

Enjoy your new home and we look forward to you sharing your experiences as “Harry Homeowner” with us soon.

Been through that a few times and don’t envy you, LOL. However it IS exciting moving into a new home. Best of luck Tim. :)

Oh, and when you get your TV set up in the house, make sure you program HGTV and DIY into your favorite channels. You’ll need ‘em! :P

Good luck with the new home, Tim.

P.S. Just think, some day there’ll be boys knocking on the front door to date you daughter. Now, that will put some gray hair on you, LOL.

Moving can be a pain in the butt. Good luck in the new abode! Owning a home is cool, but now you are responsible for everything.

It’s hard to believe that someone who seems to be a whiz at being an internet guru wouldn’t own a home. The best thing you will realize is thast you no longer have a landlord, but the rent, well there are property taxes. OUCH.
Good luck on your move, and I enjoy using your exchange and this blog.

Hey Tim.

Congrats on the new house and savor the moments. You have done a great job with your Internet business so it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Tim,

I would just like to wish you every success with your first new home.
It is well worth the effort and I’m sure once settled in you will enjoy the experience.

A very stressful experience, but worth it.

I own a second home in a foreign country. A nice setting, right beside the sea but stressful – heck – you would not believe.

Dealing in a foreign currency (read exchange rates), in a foreign language too and having to pay people to look after the house, since I live thousands of miles away.

Worth it though, in the long term, but takes some getting used to.

Once you and your family are all settled in, you’ll feel like a king.

Congratulations and best of luck.

Jeff Henshaw.

Hi Tim,

Buying your first house is exciting. I remember it very well when I bought mine in Sep 2007.

Congratulations Tim on your new home. It can be a hassle just getting everything moved in, but once done you can sit back and take a few deep breathes and relax. Not to long tho, you have a business to run.
