How about PTC’s that don’t pay up?
This was a question posted in the suggestions box that I decided to just answer without coming up with a creative title. If you have any questions or ideas on what I should post about, feel free to add one. If it’s too big or specific to fit in the box wait until I do another questions post ;-)
So back to the question.. Well I think the problem isn’t the paying up part, but the whole idea of getting paid to click, promote, read, etc. When your mindset is to make pennies for your actions, you really are limited in the amount you can make.
I would say unless you are totally satisfied with how much you are making from them, you should look into other areas. Say you are paid a penny per click, and have to have the ad open for 30 seconds. That’s a max $28.80 you can earn per day assuming there are 2880 ads available per day, and assuming you don’t sleep or eat.
Is $10,000 a year enough to provide for your family? Looking at a popular paid to click site I’ve seen advertised ALOT the front page has an example of $63.00 per month but assuming you have 20 referrals and you each click 10 ads per day. Now here is the kicker: “Some days you will have more clicks available, some days you will have less.”
Let’s be realistic here, they boast on their home page having more or less than 10 clicks available per day, and my example of 2,880 per day isn’t anywhere close to a good income. So why would you spend all your day doing this? It doesn’t make business sense!

Hi
I love this post,I was thinking about getting into pay-per-click,but I do not think so.I agree with you on the numbers it does not make sense to spend that much time for only pennies.
David Mosleys lastest blog post..How do you Treat your mailing list people
You did not really give the reader the actual amount they could earn, using multiple tabs, just like when we surf for hits. I figured(even though I do not do it myself), that using 9 tabs, from 9 companies, one could make from 10 15 dollars an hour, assuming you get paid, but that seems to be the real problem, from what I have read, there are a lot of scams in this area.
I am disabled and on a very limited income, divorced with two teenagers.. Every penny counts for me. PTC is the one thing I can do to help my family.
Just like with TE’s you learn to judge the good and the bad.
I have run into alot of so called (non-payers), I also receive updates from:support@gptboycott.com”
It helps to try and stay ontop of the shady sites.
It is always a question of what works for different people.
PTC are a great way to start online and you can make a good living from just them if you want to.
Most pay you for your referrals clicks aswell so just take your own example and multiply that by 10 sites and say you have 10 referrals in each then you would be making $100’s per month.
It is not easy but what is anyway, there is a place for PTC or there wouldn’t be so many of them with so many members.
Most are honest and do pay, some you wait for but sometimes it is worth the wait.
Have a great day
Paul
I do lots of ptc sites but never stare at an ad for 30 seconds – just like I never stare at an ad on TEs and Safelists. I have multiple sites open.
There’s a lot of hit and run scammers out there so I rarely upgrade or buy refs. I only upgraded in the sites associated with a real brick and mortar business and that has paid off.
One site even asked their members to help pay for server costs. Good grief! It’s a business! I run for the hills when I see an owner whining about money. It’s also probably not a good idea to send money to a 14 year old site owner.
I cash out on different sites each month so I have a nice little cash flow coming in. No where near a full time job but nice little chunks of cash here and there.
Hi Tim. I think you’ve missed an important angle in the whole PTC scenario… referrals. By referring heavily over many months I have been able to produce a comfortable and regular monthly income from PTC. One example sees me personally clicking around 20-30 ads monthly, my referrals totalling thousands of clicks, which results in a $50+ [and rising] payment to me each and every month and this is from just the one PTC program. Rinse and repeat this over multiple sites and you can get the idea :-) Greg.
I do use PTC sites. However, I don’t do them for the extra cash. Earn the points and cents, then use your earnings to advertise your business.
Many people get burned out on doing PTCs (and PTRs) because living costs a lot more than what they can earn on PTCs alone. Having “mentors” push those people with “you just need to refer” doesn’t do a single bit to help out (to put it nicely). It can take many referrals before you find just one that will actually “do something”. I have built downlines in PTCs and know how to ‘work them’, but I try to encourage people to look on them as a single tool or stepping stone. Very much like how TEs are not a complete advertising solution, just one of many ways to get people looking at your business.
Personally I would never waste my time on PTC.
hours of clicking for pennies.
I prefer to spend 10 minutes a day making Dollars.
Yes when I started I was only making just over $1 for my 10 minutes now 6 months later i am making over $35 for that same 10 minutes each day, and that is not counting income from my referrals.
I also dont have to worry about not being paid.

Set your targets and when you reach them then raise them some and work to wards your new one. Continue to repeat this and you will grow.
I also am disabled at home and not always up to the work required to be a successful ‘net entrepreneur. So I enjoy the PTC and other programs that I can do at my leisure with little worry or work.
The income is modest but so is the effort. That’s not necessarily always a bad thing for some people.
There are many reputable PTCs out there that do pay, and if you click regularly AND get referrals, you can actually make some decent cash. Like Kayla said, you learn to judge the good and the bad.
