Just Trying to Focus

Well it’s a start of a new day, and I’m just trying to focus. There are so many distractions both online and offline, it can be very difficult to get work done! Today I’m going to do my best and focus on one site that I need to finish up, so that I can start making money with it.
Already this morning I spent a good amount of time looking at and comparing support ticket systems. I tend to do this, I like scripts and I like buying complexe ones to dig into. But I need to focus! I already have a working support system (well, working in that it works, failing in that I take way too long to get to tickets. Good thing I got two support people to do most of it right?)
Anyways.. Focus! Just a reminder for you. I hope you have a better time than I do focusing on the tasks at hand.

That’s a constant struggle with me too. The key for is just being aware of it, so that I can make sure I’m always doing what is most important first. :)

That goes ditto for me lately. I seem to have too many projects going on at the same time.
Usually I’m good at doing several things at once but doing several things on the computer seems to take so long and there is always just one more blog post to read.

Yup, that’s one of the KEYS of Eben Pagan’s IGNITION training.
He quotes an article he read: The IQ of a person on pot is greater than someone who is multitasking – because the multitasker is so scattered on ALL the things they are trying to do at once, it takes TIME to get focused on any one thing.
Better to FOCUS on one thing for a large chuck of time (maybe complete it) and then move on to the next. AT ALL TIMES, keeping distractions (phones; texting; email…) to the maximum MINIMUM.
That’s a double ditto. Call it A.D.D if you want. I just finished writing down ten things I need to do right now!! Hey look something interesting on TV…pathetic.

Hey Tim, another thinking post. Once I applied some focus to my online activities they not surprisingly improved. That means focus on what I am promoting (1 thing at a time) and also focus on how I promote. So now I surf TE’s at the same time every day, check my gmail account at another time, send emails at set times and have time to read stuff that I have been sent. Its amazing how much you can get done when you are focused and have a plan. Cheers Martin
Yeah, I hear you on the focus. It is even worse when you are still trying to find somthing: “that I can start making money with”

I understand about focus, especially with so many distractions around. It can be easy to lose focus and it can really take a strong will to stay at what you are doing.

Wow, you just described me! I work full time, so I have very limited spare time to do everything. I find myself constantly wandering off track, and have to remind me of what I was doing.
Thanks Tim,

Focusing is really hard to do. Thae are distractions every where. Some times, You almost feel over loaded with them (at least I do).
I have been having a hard time with focus lately. I went back to work full time and it seems like there are so many things demanding attention that it’s hard to get anything accomplished.

Focus…….. Lots of daily distractions and choices of what to do with our time.
What helps me is action planning the night before and identifying the activities that I need to do the next day that will make a difference and then prioritizing them.

I did start to focus on your post, and the ten comment rule (which I find to be very innovative), but got distracted by your autoplay video!

probably won’t format right…LOL
my focus factor is out of focus. I really have to discipline myself or I find I start a whole lot of things get overwhelmed and don’t continue. it is so easy to get lost on the internet especially where you start one thing and there is a link to something else and you check it out and there is a link to something else and before I know it I am not sure where I started. I like to have to click on a confirmation link in my e-mail because it brings me back to my starting point.
Hey Tim,
As a fellow programmer and PHP junkie, I know where you’re coming from, lol. I love to dig into scripts, analyze and work on improving or customizing them all the time. I really need to focus more on one project at a time, it’s so easy to bounce around when new ideas come up. Instead, I’ve just been writing them all down as they come and sort by priority. The best place to keep them is where they’re visible everyday as a constant reminder to get in gear, subtle, but it works.
Thanks for the reminder :)
If you’re reading this, pay attention
to what’s in the background of Tim’s
videos… See the wall calender? Not a bad idea to help stay organized, set some realistic deadlines for your projects and keep track of important dates. If you want to be successful, do as successful people do.

Well, the older I get, the more difficult it is for me to do several things at the same time – and I was pretty good at it 20 or so years ago,
Now I’m trying to focus more, it is difficult!
It seems that Leonardo da Vinci wasn’ really good with keeping focus – he left an enormous number of works, but most of them unfinished.
Great post. It is good to be reminded that we all struggle with focus and productivity. It is just part of being an entrepreneur I suppose.
Two things that really help me are:
1) Having accountability partners
2) Breaking big projects down into small little tasks.

Tim, I agree, having focus is one of the biggest challenges in Internet Marketing. With no set schedule or boss to keep you on track, it is easy to flounder by going from one thing to another. That’s why I have my newsletter devoted to Focused Marketing.
