Writing Consistently with a White Board

I use a white board and a “dry erase” calendar to stay organized. If you’ve subscribed to me for a long time you probably have noticed a pickup in my consistency when writing. The white board is where I put down all the ideas that pop into my head throughout the day. I use it for this site and the others I run.

The calendar I use to keep track of posts I’ve made and days that have passed. You can see in the photo the highlighted days are days that I have posts scheduled to publish. I don’t always publish in the future, but when I do it gets highlighted. This way I can see which time frames haven’t had anything posted in a while.

You can also see that I’ve got names down on Tuesdays. These are the owner interviews, and it’s an easy way for me to see which owner is scheduled for which date. I alternated between blue/red just for asthetics. I’ve put an orange question mark for next tuesday so you all don’t know who is scheduled for that day =P

In the end it has worked great, and kept me on track. Without it I would have fumbled on the “Bad Exchanges” series. It can also be a great motivational tool if you have a baby due and your wife marks the due date! Nothing like the pressure of seeing the days closing in and realizing the crazy level of your life is about to double!

Hi Tim, that’s how every marketer should organize his personal time schedule.
I have trouble with that myself, and I have been busy writing down my priorities.
But still I am unable to keep on that schedulled track.
Still I think that without using these kind of reminders, it is almost impossible to set up and run any business.

Thanks for sharing your techniques with us.

ps: Is that picture a few month old or is another exitement close around the corner?

  2. Hi Tim, Congrats on that Baby! I utilize the same system except on paper, not enough room in my home office for a white board. But yes for all those serious about keeping things on schedule with a home business keeping a visual of what needs to be done and what is up and coming are vitally important!
