Is it all pointless to promote?
With Jon Olson’s Pizza Plan being launched, many people sent out emails about it. Those emailing about it often mentioned the offer to allow you to not only download the ebook, but to rebrand it and promote it yourself. But if everyone is already emailing about it, isn’t that pointless?
No! It’s all about relationships, and if your list has a relationship with YOU then they’ll buy from YOU. It’s the reason why some people buy from Tony Tezak, Jerry Reader, Bo Tipton, and so many other non owners!
You may have a small list, but that makes it easier for you to have a relationship with that list. Do you think I know what’s going on with all 41,704 Members of StartXchange? No way! And guess what, some of the people I talked to about the Pizza Plan said they already got it through someone else!
The point is if you’ve got something of value, don’t let what other marketers are doing discourage you from promoting it or giving it away. Just look at the comments on the Pizza Plan Review.. Wouldn’t you want your list thanking YOU for letting them know about it?

Yes sir, absolutely. Far too often we forget that there are names behind the usernames. Real people drive this business and relationships are what is important.
The relationship you build with your subscribers, team members, etc will be the determining factor.

I agree.
Sometimes when I hear about an ebook or a new service, I don’t buy it, join or download it until I hear about from someone I trust (have some kind of relationship with).

Hi
I think you are right, but for the small guy with less than 100 people on his/her list it is hard to make a sale. The big guys like you take over and it is hard for the small guys to get in,When the pizza thing started i got 15 emails none from the small guys all came from the big guys.I think that is why the small guys do not send out emails,Why bother.
David
David, why bother? You may have less than 100 people on your list now… but if you continue promoting and branding yourself you could have thousands like me, and eventually tens of thousands like the big guys. List building takes time and patience, and if you do it right – provide value and benefit to your prospects and readers – then there is no limit to what you can accomplish. It’s all about building a relationship with your readers and building trust. You should ‘bother’ because your future depends on it.
The day Jon released Pizza Plan there were emails flying all over the place about his first ebook. Well why promote if all the big guns have already sent out their emails.
To answer that ask yourself this question. What about Tim’s StartXchange, how many members of it are there? How long has it been around? How many times have people seen splash pages or received emails about it? Yet everyday he has new members join. People who have no list to mail to that advertise StartXchange somewhere have people sign up under them.
If it does no good to promote something after the first big launch why is Traffic Witch still gaining members everyday? It would have been hard to have more emails the first day then there was about Traffic Witch.
Two examples why anyone can still promote the Pizza Plan and make money.
Over the last couple of days I went on several traffic exchanges where I have small downlines and sent each of them a thank you for being part of my downline and I am truly thankful they are part of my downline that is not just a market ploy. As a thank you gift for being part of my downline I sent them the link to Pizza Plan.
I have had three people from Jon Olson’s I Love Hits traffic exchange and 4 from Swat traffic exchange take advantage of the offer and sign up at the Pizza Plan under me. Two of these had been random referrals.
These are people that are on Jon’s list. Sorry Jon! Well I am not really sorry. Anyway these are people that you know Jon, the author of the book, had contacted and you know being part of that traffic exchange they are probably part of others especially the super surf traffic exchanges. So they had to receive more then one email about Pizza Plan from heavy hitters but I was still able to get them to join when they are part of Jon’s list.
One more example is my son who just within the last month decide to build an Internet business to pay off student loans from college. Nobody knows who he is and as of yesterday had a list of two and he was one of them on the list. He is still sending out safelist emails, running the splash page for Pizza Plan along with other free advertising and having people join under him in Pizza Plan. Some are then joining under him in the traffic exchanges mentioned in the book. For the first time ever he has made money on the internet and grew his traffic exchange list using this book.
Can you still promote it if you don’t have a list sure you can just get inventive. I gave you one idea that worked for me.
If you want some ideas email me and I don’t care if you are on my list or in my downline I will be glad to give you some ideas especially if you do not have a list. I have been there where my list was only one line and that was where I signed up to test my autoresponder.
Okay Tim, sorry for the long post bu this is a great opportunity for the new guys to make some money and help people at the same time.

Why Bother? hmm, lets see, becuase you too would like to become a “big guy” ?
Anyone that has been around for a while has seen their fair share of newbies turn “big guy”
The one thing that all of them have done different ?
They have asked “well how can I do it better?” , instead of “why bother?”
If you have a smaller list so what over deliver to that list and people will hear about it and join it.
Before long you have a huge list of happy followers and you will have to listen to others asking why bother.
No one is out there trying to hold the little man down everyone got to where they were because they worked for it.
It might seem that some people just pop onto the scene and are instantly promoted to the top but the did a lot of ground work before you had ever heard of them.
I started my promotion a little late on this one. I started mailing to my exchange about it last night.
With in 2 hours or my mailing at 11:00PM EST, I had already had 4 signups.
I may not have been the first person to mail, but my relationship was what got people to join.
just my .02

Is promoting the Pizza Plan pointless?
The answer to that question depends on HOW you promote the plan.
As already mentioned, people are more likely to take action on a recommendation from someone they know and trust. Building your own list of leads is one of the best ways to establish those relationships and build trust.
In other words, if you are not doing what the Pizza Plan says you should be doing for success, you will not likely have much success promoting this book or any other for that matter.
HINT #1: If you are not using splash pages, lead capture pages and an autoresponder in your TE marketing, don’t bother trying to promote the book. In my (professional) opinion it would be pointless.
HINT #2: You will MAKE MORE MONEY by FOLLOWING the Pizza Plan than by “giving it away” and hoping someone else wants to rebrand it sight unseen.
Yes, following the plan is work. It requires thought, time, work and a little investment.
But if you are going for the quick bucks promoting the Pizza Plan and you are NOT following that plan, you are just hoping and wishing.
I appreciate Jon’s Pizza Plan and how he so colorfully shared his story. Very well written. Very solid advice.
“It’s not WHAT you say, it’s HOW you say it.”
Jon puts a unique twist and clear perspective in his Pizza Plan. That is HOW he tells the story.
Jon clearly provides his personal recommendations and states that a $75 per month budget is recommended to implement the plan.
That is bold and honest.
Three other books come to mind that share similar stories and the same solid strategy: Soren’s IMSF, William’s 13 Deadly, and my own TE Profits. I’m sure there are others and will be more to follow.
Read them all. Read them again and again until you finally accept the truth.
The money is NOT in the list. It is in the relationship.
Hey Tim, Any time you come across true content like this it is always beneficial to let your people have access to it, with the viral nature of this Ebook you simply cannot go wrong. Nice job Jon, Have a Wonderful Day, Tim

What’s it they say… people don’t normally sign-up for something until they have seen it 6 or 7 times?
Cool!
Just let all the big guys do all the branding work for you!
After everybody deletes all the Pizza emails from their inbox is the perfect time for the little guy to swoop in and tell people why the Pizza Plan is worth reading.
Also, the Pizza Plan isn’t specific to the TE industry. There are a hell of a lot of IM people out there not on the big TE owners lists that would love to read a book like this. You just gotta take the time to look for them.
Good conversation going on here!
Lana, William, etc I agree!
If you want to be a big boy – act like one!
If you cant see a point to promotion, you’re in the worng game.
and Jerry – thats great!
“Let the big boys do the work for you” – I love it!
Well said Tim – good topic.

Greetings from paradise!
Jon’s Pizza book is awesome! What I especially liked was how simply each item was covered, along with ‘get started’ price and the encouragement to get started.
The single exception I take is everyone promoting the “a” company auto-responder. They may be the biggest and best but their huge success seems to have made them arrogant regarding not accepting payment by digital currencies (PayPal, e-gold, etc) and insisting upon paying affiliate commissions by USA check. I am a USA expat, have not lived there for almost 12 years. Us rest of the world people outside of first-world countries have a difficult time sending and receiving funds. Cash a check? Bank check cashing fees sometimes exceed the value of the commission check. Other auto-responders are available, some for free.
Please excuse the rant, the Pizza book is awesome and as previously stated if you do nothing more than follow the plan. . . it is a read well worth the up-grade cost (not required to just read). Big bravo to John, Cindy and everyone promoting this book!

Tim, I love your blog. A lot of times the comments are additional help. I love reading them, too. I’m going to have to get this ebook. Gotta wait a few more days, tho, cause I want the upgrade, too.
Keep up the good work!
I agree with Tim and a lot of the posters. Many times I wait to join a new program, TE, etc, until I see a page or get an email from someone I know or trust!
Hi
Ok, so I’m a little behind on reading my emails, but I had to comment. I know I’m a new face around here, but I will have to say that I do usually read Tim’s blogs and newsletters.
What I really wanted to comment on was I guess I looked at the promoting of Jon’s book the wrong way, because I was looking at it from the standpoint that if all the big guys are promoting it, Why should I? Because of the previous comments, I now know why I should have been promoting it. As a newcomer to all of this, I just learned a valuable lesson.
Thanks to all of you for pointing me to a different and better perspective!
Merry
