BAL 4: Creating Splash Pages

Building a List (BAL) your next step is to create splash pages. This is used inside Traffic Exchanges. If you don’t plan on using traffic exchanges to advertise, then you can skip this step. But unless you’ve already tried it, and know that traffic exchanges don’t have the audience for the type of list you are creating, I say try it! You can get tons of traffic for way low prices, so it’s definitely worth it.
Option 1: TEtoolbox Splash Pages
You can create splash pages with the TEtoolbox “what you see is what you get” editor. It’s pretty simple. When you copy the subscribe form HTML, make sure it has the Analytics modification first. Then when you are ready to paste it in, find where you want it in the page and type something like “aaaaaa”.
Next below the textarea box click the view source checkbox. Then find “aaaaaa” and replace it with the HTML code. I do the aaaaa thing so it’s easier to figure out where to put the HTML, so when you uncheck view source it should look exactly how you want it. Of course, you can play with it a bit.
I recommend you put your photo in there, as branding helps on traffic exchanges. A great way to do this is to use tables. The editor has a table button, click it and enter: [1 row, 2 columns, 100 percent width, 0 thickness, cellpadding 4, cellspacing 0]. When it appears, it might be hard to find it. Click around until you can find the 2 columns, and start entering text. If you want you can put the border thickness to 1 to see where they are, and later change it.
Option 2: HTML Splash Pages
This will only work if you have your own hosting. You’ll also need to know HTML, or use a different type of WYSIWG editor. You can copy and paste the HTML from TEtoolbox, but it won’t include all the elements of a page. This is a whole topic in itself. I learned HTML from HTMLGoodies.com
