What I’ve been up to 6

So I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been doing a lot of things and leaving blogging till I felt like blogging. Well, I might be there now. Recent stuff we’ve been discussing at TimTech has gotten me re-interested in a few things.

Right now I’m working on a WordPress plugin for Trck.me. The way it’ll work is you link your Trck.me account into the plugin, and then it loads all your trackers. You can then set keywords to those trackers and it’ll auto link that keyword in all your posts to that tracker.

I’ve got it loaded up on my blog right now. So you should see a few blue external link icons in here. Like if I mention wood pellets or something like that.

I’ve been using a plugin for years to do this, the problem is the author actually deleted the plugin and it’s not compatible. So to edit the keywords I have to go into the database and mess around.

This plugin alone will make having a Trck.me account for bloggers super awesome. I love it because I don’t have to ever look up referral links while I’m blogging or even think about them. And if I talked about something years ago and just add that keyword in today, bam, it gets auto linked now.

Also, final note. People say traffic exchanges don’t work. I just looked at my stats for my blog squeeze pages. I sent 1,022,989 hits to two splash pages and got 5,604 subscribers to my blog (via aweber).

That means for every 182 hits I received a subscriber. Figure in upgraded members at ThumbVu get an offer for 4,000 hits for $14. That’s about 21 subscribers for $14. That means I get a person on my list for 66 cents, which is about the cost of my Kcups.

So literally I can get a new subscriber for the cost of a cup of coffee. Interesting.

Sweet Tim! After the training you did on Monday, I realized that I’ve missed some of the features that you already built into trck.me.

This sounds like it will be another great feature. Can’t wait to play with it myself.

Great numbers Tim and a quick question regarding your wp plugin for the trck service:

What happens if you target a word like say “aweber” and that word was already hiperlinked in some post, will it override the link and set the new properties to it?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sergio

Nope, it won’t modify already existing links. So if you have a keyword set but in a specific blog post want to make it go elsewhere you can.

Tim, will you be making this plugin available through the WordPress Plugins site? or will it be on trck.me.com?
