The Secret About Blogs

by Tim on October 20, 2009

One of the biggest mistake blog owners make when advertising their blog, is sticking their blogs right into a traffic exchange. They get the instant surge of traffic, a few comments, and get excited.

But then reality sinks in and they realize they have to surf a whole lot *every day* just to get a few comments. That's because the people aren't subscribed! And the majority of TE users don't know how an RSS feed works.

The secret is the email subscription form. You need to have one for your blog, so people can easily subscribe to get notified when you update your site. It's really that simple. Then you focus on getting more subscribers daily. It's a trickle effect that eventually gets you to where I am.

What I've found is the majority of the people I talk to don't realize the crucial part is actually really, terribly, easy to do. Setting up that email form is so simple. In fact, I'll show you now in a video that has is filled with me talking because if I really only showed you the steps it'd be too short:

Thanks Tim. Your the reason I have a subscribe list in the first place. You told me to do this six months ago and I listened!! With my new splash page and my feedburner subscribe form in place I pulled 26 new subscribers this week. Thanks again!

Could you make a video now showing how to create a squeeze page using “TE Toolbox” and “FeedBurner”? I’ve been using and giving tutorials for Splash Page Maker, so I really haven’t explored TET much.

Have a great day

Phil

I think I need to know more about blogs. I have always found them daunting,

Since reading Tim’s blog I see that a short blog is good as long as the content is high.

I have not read a boring one even when the content did not really interest me I still read it all and all of the comments.

So now the decision report, e-book or a blog or all three?

I will keep this video unless you post it on the Forum and keep it there Tim.

Interesting, but how does this work with Get a Response? Do you have to import the members into their form?

Tim October 26, 2009 at 10:25 am

You’d have to check with them. I would hope they have an import feature but I don’t know.
