P90x Really Works! 8

You’ve probably seen the infomercials for P90x. It’s on TV all the time, “Get in the best shape of your life!”. Pictures flash of before and after shots of people going from fatty to build like a machine.

Well, that’s not why I bought P90x. I’ll be honest, the reason I bought it is because a guy at my church said he did P90x. This guy has the most energy of anyone I know. He literally unicycles up mountains and races in bike races on a unicycle. Insane.

So I figured I’d go with that because I wanted to exercise to get more energy. I knew that my lack of excercise was causing me to be grumpy and feel blah. In fact I really knew this because when I stopped jogging in the morning I started to feel the effects again.

With it being cold out I no longer had the motivation to jog. So I thought maybe P90x would work for me. I thought about it for a while, but it wasn’t until this month that I did it.

I actually did it because an Elder during a sermon mentioned feeling grumpy and blah and how the answer was exercise. Just like the Bible is the answer to feeling lost and empty spiritually. That’s when I finally said OK time to get in shape.

Well I’m now at the end of week 4. And I have to say, I’m seeing the effects of it already. I’m starting to feel my energy levels pick up a bit, and I’m seeing muscles forming which is awesome.

The great part is that it’s really not that hard. Their motto is do your best and forget the rest. So while I’m not doing everything they are doing or to the extend they are doing, I’m seeing myself get closer as time moves on. It’s exciting.

It’s funny because this can relate to business. We recently had Shelayne email us that she completed all the training in CTP. It took her MONTHS. But guess what, she was extremely happy and excited.

It takes time to do these things, and you can’t expect instant results. But seeing the progress as it’s happening should motivate you to continue pushing farther and farther.

    Hey Tim, that’s fantastic man!

I’ll be dead honest with you, I am a bit afraid of P90X myself, I did a few programs before including the first P90 series (I think it was called P90M?) and even though I was able to keep up (sort of) with the training, some moves were a bit rough for me.

I did see some results but nothing impressive, not sure if it was because I didn’t follow up every single day or because I didn’t use the recommended diet.

It’s hard for me to follow strict diet directions since I love eating chips and junk food whenever I watch a movie with my girlfriend or when we go out for dinner.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback on this, when I heard you also got into exercising too (apart from Jon Olson) you guys reminded me I needed to get back on track too.

So a great reminder for me and I’ll look out for the next update on this, keep it up man! ;-)

    Sergio

PS. Are you following the suggested diet and eating the suplements too or just going through the videos?

I’m not 100% on their diet but I have made changes. The biggest thing that has helped me is drinking a recovery shake after workouts. It’s full of protein and I can tell a difference the days I do or don’t drink one.

Awesome Tim. I’m a bit of a work-out nut, and p90x doesn’t work for me – but other things do work for me – and I’m glad this is working for you! My motto is find something that works and kicks your butt from time to time – and stick with it. Maybe a little simplistic, but it does work.

Exactly, I’ve tried other things before but the pace this one is at is working for me so I’ll continue doing it. I don’t know of any exercise routine that I’ve done consistently like this one so I’m happy about it!

I think the point here is the program you use, needs your determination to stick to it on a weekly or daily basis. If you have a plan, be it for weight loss or in business. You need to stick to it, for it to pay off.

Per diet and weight loss, I use an Elliptical for my main workout. Easy on your joints with lots of variety. Put on some music and go to town. The hard part is sticking to it and finding the time.. So first thing in morning keeps me doing it. Other wise I find excuses not too.

Here is a blog post I did my weight loss and carbs.
http://www.bbtjerky.com/jerky-talk-blog.html?entry=jerky-low-carb-diabetic-lifestyle . Just remember what works for some may not for others. I have not had a piece of bread in a year.

    BTW: great post here.

The best plan have seen was my mother’s as a diabetic. Simply, eat anything only in moderation and stay active. Be sensible have junk food on occasion just not as your main diet. Just walking alone is exercise. When you deprive yourself you fail, balance good with bad, throw in healthy fat substitutions and you will succeed

Yes anything in moderation is what the diabetic workshop taught me too. Portion size. But that for me was not going to work. I would have the small helping and then want more. So stated in my blog post.. For me it was completely cutting out some foods, bread, potatoes etc. High carb type food. In this way, I could eat till I was full. Basically watch what I eat not the portion size. The diabetic councilor after 3 months said it was working fine. Although it was not what she recommended. Two ways for everything in this life…

      Nice post enjoyed reading it.

Since my return back to the U.S. I’ve gained quite a bit of weight. Used to be every time I visited and returned back to India, I’d gain but there it was easy to lose it again. I normally just did a lo carb and it would go. But this time I am having to incorporate exercise, something I should have been doing all along.

It’s always interesting to hear what other people are doing and especially their successes.

    Thanks for sharing!

    God bless,

    Shelayne
