Do you have them enabled? Have you configured them properly? You really ought not be having any but the odd spam sneak through once in a blue moon if you have both of these enabled. The comments on a post can be very educating too. But noone wants to scroll through endless spam comments to find those and you can't monitor them all for ever and ever (lol).
