I was asked by a relative a few questions on blogging for money. They linked to a blog post that really hyped it up in a sneaky way. It was funny because the title was something along the lines on how to make money while blogging, but in reality it was a side tracked marketing message to get you to buy their blog hosting.
On one hand it was kind of genius. Because the way it was written it really didn’t give out any useful information but made you feel like hey I know the first step, it’s to start a blog! And this hosting is great for starting blogs!
The problem is there isn’t much money to be made from blogging, at least for the average person. The people making all the money are good at writing posts like the above one where you are left with this need of a product you never heard of before.
The product could be the best product in the world, but if you don’t know how to get people to go buy it, or you’re not even trying to get people to buy products, where’s the money coming from?
It did make me wonder about Adsense though. It’s been years since I’ve had Adsense on my blog, and I did used to make some money with it. So I might try it again. I don’t think this relative was thinking they would make six figures or anything, but more of a hey I like to write maybe I could make some money while doing it type of question.
So if you see Adsense on the blog coming up.. I’ll let you guys know how it goes. To me ads like that are helpful if done right.
Always interesting articles and worth reading. My question is what can you do to reactivate your account if it was suspended at one point?
Thanks for sharing
You can try sending them your form again after making the necessary changes to your form/website.
If still they dont accept your form you can create another AdSense account with a new Google account and them simply and the website you wanted ads on.
Adsense booted me because I had a few side links and banner impressions on incentive sites for my non-incentive blog. However, my heart wasn’t really broken as I’d only made 11 cents from them after having ad sense on the blog for at least a year.
Have heard little about side tracked marketing messages myself and some said it worked getting visitors. Guess if it’s working then go for it.
I’ve got Adsense on my IBO blog and should be booted because IBO made the deal with them. At the pennies I’ve made so far in 100 years it might be worth something.
I have always been against (google) ads on my sites but you know what, I might actually try this as well.
Go for it Tim! ;-)

Hi Tim,
Never been that big a fan of adsence as you have no control over the adverts they place on your site. Also as you have numerous TE sites you may find that your account gets suspended?
The best thing to write about is a topic that you’re passionate about and something like amazon adverts would be a much better starting point.
Lastly I bet the blogger never mentioned that you need to actually have some technical knowledge.
Andrew
Ah but Amazon won’t allow affiliates from Rhode Island because we passed a law saying if you have an affiliate in the state you have to charge sales tax on every order from the state..
I just have to put my 2 cents in on this topic. Blogs with adsense ads always seem to take longer to load. Same with google ads. Also, the ads always seem to be for the next, big thing, leading to shiny object syndrome. So, I for one will be sad to see this happen to your blog.
People won’t make a fortune from Adsense but you can make some money from it…
These days I think you can say things like “I don’t want ads promoting this product or that product” so there is an element of control over what appears on your site.
Patrick.
If you put your AdSense pages in rotation in TEs, Google suspends your account.
I cannot see why having a page in rotation in TE`s would be a violation.
I guess G just don`t like TE`s . I was just this week thinking of adding Adsense to my blog but I`m not persisting to much. I feel I should not have them on my blog or site because it seems to me it would be counter productive which is to say it would take larger commission sales away for pennies in return.
People have in the past created “Adsense Exchanges” which is essencially a TE where you surf and click the ads.. Kinda sad!
Adsense is better for niche sites – weight loss, SEO, stop smoking, etc. Any kind of activity like a TE to click ads is against their TOS.
Nice post Tim,, I have 2 blogs,, but since I incorporated a blog on my jerky site, the sales of cases of jerky have really been good. In fact last month I had one sale for around $1,700. That was just one retail sale not to mention the other sales on retail. I track where my hits come from and what page they click on. The Jerky Talk Blog has really been producing some good SE traffic.. Since I started this blog my earnings have increased big. I do have banners on the blog for affiliates including Amazon.
Sorry to the new law in your state on that one. Hope Ohio think of this.

Thank you,
i think writing reviews (in your own website) is the best way to get money because when a user look for a product review it means he thinks seriously about buying thet product
I think Adscence is like you give your compititors some targeted traffic because the niche you use in ads is your own niche also so if you arn’t a solid website you will lose your visitors
