And now Tim Rash is copying me 11

It amazes me how many people are willing to blatantly copy someone. I’ll tell you the full details but first how we got there..

I was waiting for my wife and kid to buy some dance shoes and I found out Tim Rash has a blog. He was talking about focus and its true we do need to focus on what we are doing. I struggle with it daily and Justin will yell FOCUS when we start to drift off.

Anyways Tim didn’t copy me I just wanted to point out his blog and the fact that you rushed over to see the gossip instead of focusing on work =P

It’s programmer humor Patrick, not everyone get’s it.. but programmers do :) If you wrap yourself up in logic, dust lightly with flour, then bake at 350 degrees for two hours or until golden brown it will make more sense.

Thanks for the mention Tim :)

    Tim,
You think I came rushing here for the gossip? Heck no, I came rushing over because like waiting for the mail when the Publisher’s Clearing House million dollar contest is due, I just can’t wait to see what you’ve written for the day.

(Hmm. . . I wonder if I can use this in my blog somehow today?)

Focus can be so difficult. I try to block of time in meaningful chunks to keep me on track. So there is the email/blog reading chunk, the writing chunk, the surfing chunk. Sometimes it just turns into chocolate chunk ice cream and gets all mixed up. Then you just need to have a recovery strategy (Justin yelling focus would be one) to get you back on track.

Well focus can be really tough when you receive e-mails, phone calls, skype messages and people around the house asking questions. Some of the things 1) I do to keep me on track is to check e-mail 2 or 3 times a day. Once in the morning, once midday and then once at night. I even though out the midday if i am knee deep in a project.
    2) I mute my laptop and make adjust my skype settings so I don’t see notifications from general chat but only folks I that I know closely. If I am knee deep in a project I turn skype off!
    3) I silence my cell phone… if It rings or I get a message I can check it when I can be interrupted. Of course if it is Gloria that is always a priority call!
    4) Surf during relaxing times… you need the downtime so why not surf as well!

Setting your schedule for me is the key. I do offline networking on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s other days I am pretty much accessible. But my point is I do not network everyday of the week. If you want to grow your business or businesses you have to allocate time for them!

Thank you for making me re-focus Tim! :)

    Grr!

I came here looking for gossip. Now I feel so unfulfilled.

    I know! Let’s see what’s happening on Jon’s blog…

Tim when I click on your orange e-book I get an error message 404 not found. Thought you might want to know. I am kind of interested in your ebook too.
