Using Different Email Addresses

I’m sorting out the mail in my inbox, to get ready to mass work tomorrow. I don’t like working Sundays, but the computer was on and I wanted to spend a few minutes clearing out my inbox so I can get right to the important ones tomorrow. You see, I get a ton of automated emails and spam.

I use a bunch of traffic exchanges because of TrafficExchangeList.com so I get a ton of referral notifications and newsletters from them. Well I filter those emails so they don’t invade my inbox, so if I have time I can read the newsletters instead of reading them and not having time for clients.

One thing I noticed, is some webmasters send out mass emails from the same email address they correspond with. This causes a problem: If I filter the email based on the from field, then their personal emails to me will get filtered too, and may not get read by me for a very long time.

So I just wanted to remind any of you with a list, to use a separate email address to send from. It’s as easy as creating an email forwarder. Simply create one, and send the mass emails out from that address. Then if someone replies, they can still reach you yet still be able to put the address you send mass emails from into a filter.

Now I understand that we all want our newsletters to be read, but really my decision now is to waste time moving the emails myself, remove my membership from the website, or get to any potentially important emails from the owner whenever I have time to read the newsletters. Since many webmasters are clients of mine, that would not be good.

You want the user to read your emails, but you also want it to be in whatever way they want to read them. If they can’t put the automated emails aside for later, they’ll most likely choose never over having to manually do it ;-)

PS. I realize now I’m doing exactly what I’m saying here not to do with my new AWeber lists. I’ll be fixing that when I get a chance though!
