Making Splash Pages

Advertising on Traffic Exchanges can be very ineffective - unless you know what you’re doing. The first key to advertising effectively is to use fast loading splash pages. While many people will tell you this, I’m going to breifly show you how to make a splash page.

First you’ll need to download an HTML editor. HTML is the code that creates websites. Need a free editor? Well download NVU. I will be using this editor for this tutorial.

Most splash pages have 6 key elements:

  1. A background color / image
  2. A table with a border
  3. A catchy headling
  4. A catchy image - either your photo for branding or a funny image that grabs the user’s attention
  5. A paragraph or so selling the user to click and find out more
  6. A big blue link opening the site in a new window

I’ve created a video showing you how I created a splash page with all those key elements. I used NVU to do it. View the video here.

I did the splash page very quickly, so just in case you didn’t get it - here is the process for doing a few things using NVU:

Changing the page background color: Format -> Page Colors and Background
Changing the table border color: Right-click a table cell -> Table or Cell Color. Then select the Table radio button.
Changing the table cell color: Right-click a table cell -> Table or Cell Color. Then select the Cell radio button.
Making a link open in a new window On the Link Properties page, click “More Properties”. Check the “Link is to be opened” checkbox, and select “in a new window”.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask in the Noob Training Forum. I’ll try to help you as soon as I can!
