How to Increase your Findability Factor

Jon Olson and Dan Moses are starting new podcasts, and in the first one they mention the Findability Factor.

What is it? Basically the number of page views it takes before you see a person or program in an exchange, whether it’s a banner or a text link or a splash page.

Well I took a second to think of some ways you can increase your findability factor. Just remember each exchange you advertise on will have a different F-Factor due to the mechanics of each one. Focus on your favorite exchanges until you get the hang of it ;-)

  • Advertise on smaller exchanges where you’ll get more repeat visitors. 1000 hits on a small exchange will give you a better F-Factor for that exchange than the same 1000 hits on a larger exchange.
  • Insert your website multiple times in rotation. Most exchanges prevent you from seeing the same page within 50 or so page views. If you want your F-Factor to be smaller than 50, you’ll need to add the page in multiple times.
  • Using banners can increase your Findability Factor without costing much. You can get some great conversion rates from credits to impressions on most exchanges.

What do you do to increase your F-Factor?
