Banner Campaign Revisited

I created a banner campaign, and decided to give you the results so far. About 18 days of testing have happened so here goes!

StartXchange: 8763 Views, 32 Clicks, 0.36% CTR
I Love Hits:Â 2104 Views, 4 Clicks, 0.19% CTR
Traffic-Splash: 13,057 Views, 8 Clicks, 0.06% CTR

Out of those 44 clicks approx 4 subscribed, a 9% signup rate! The cost for the banners comes out to less than $10. That’s about 22 cents per click and $2.50 per signup. 22 cents per click is pretty cheap.

If I could get the conversion rate up better then it’d be even better! You see I used the blog entry as the page viewed when someone clicks a banner so it’s not really a great conversion tool. But that alone got a 9% signup rate so the overall point is banners DO work, even if you put minimal effort into it!

  1. That’s pretty good.

I haven’t had the time to start my campaign yet. But I have a few banners that I would like to test on various traffic exchanges. The problem is the landing pages. I sort of want the same thing as yourself, I want people to sign up for my blog using RSS or to my Internet Marketing newsletter.

I can’t seem to figure out if I should use a landing page for both (RSS and newsletter), or if I should use my blog as the landing page or if I should do something completely different.

One thing is the ctr, but if I don’t have a good landing page (as you stated), it doesn’t really matter how good my banners are and how many people that are clicking on them.

    Hi Tim,

that’s a great result. In my experience banners are only good for showing excistance of something I want to sell. I recently added the banner for EyeEarners.com to StartXchange banner rotation with 15,000 credits/impressions assigned. That’s about 1 week ago. So far, this banner received 4870 views and only 2 clicks. That’s not very good
Maybe the difference is that your banner is so attracting.

I was wondering: is there any of these 4 signups already upgraded? In that case you could recalculate your profit on that advertising campaign :-)

  3. Hey Tim,

Interesting numbers. Active surfers receive banners free with their surf rewards at Traffic-Splash too.

So, that makes for a remarkably low cost per signup :-)

    Happy Splashing!

    Hi Tim,

yes you could be very right about the product I am advertising. EyeEarn is in my opinion a catchie business, but it seems that majority in TE industry is not that interested. I was under the impression that the banners and landing page were fine. But yes, it looks like not many share my opinion towards that. The very same banner deliver better CTR in other campaigns like yahoo groups etc..

Anyway Tim, thanks for your reply.
